Job summary

Chubb Life Fund is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the North America team from our engineering center in India. You will troubleshoot and enhance reliability and performance of critical applications, collaborating with SREs, developers, and business teams to ensure robust systems.

You will mentor junior SREs, share best practices, and drive reliability improvements across on-prem and Azure environments, with a focus on observability, automation, and incident response.

Qualifications

• SRE Engineer with hands-on programming in .NET/Java.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues (RCA, perf debugging).
• Experience with observability tools (ELK, App Insights, Splunk, Kibana).
• Automate monitoring and operations using PowerShell and Python.
• Manage IIS on Windows; work with on‑prem and Azure cloud environments.
• Understand SRE concepts: SLAs, SLOs, error budgets and reliability‑driven design.
• Lead incident response, postmortems and preventative actions.
• Collaborate across departments and mentor junior SREs.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our North America team based out of engineering center in India. In this role, you will troubleshoot and enhance the reliability and performance of critical applications. You will collaborate closely with SREs, developers and business teams to ensure our systems are robust and scalable. While the focus is on technical engineering, you will also mentor junior team members and share best practices with regional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Hands-On Engineering & Troubleshooting

• Programming and debugging .NET/Java applications to support reliability and performance goals, showcasing strong problem-solving abilities.

• Diagnose and resolve complex application issues within production environments, including root cause analysis (RCA) and performance debugging.

Monitoring, Observability & Analysis

• Maintain, aggregate and analyze logs from observability tools such as ELK Stack, Application Insights, Splunk & Kibana to monitor application health, performance bottlenecks and user experience.

Automation

• Maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to streamline monitoring and operational tasks.

• Identify repetitive manual tasks and automate them to improve operational efficiency.

• Advocate for and implement process improvements and tooling enhancements.

Incident Response & Reliability

• Deep understanding of SRE principles, including SLAs, SLOs, error budgets and reliability-centric system design.

• Lead incident management, postmortems and implement preventative measures.

Infrastructure

• Perform IIS administration and environment setup on Windows.

• Manage applications in both on-premises and cloud (Azure) environments.

• Set up and maintain environments with a focus on application support while being exposed to infrastructure knowledge as needed.

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Navigate easily across Chubb’s other departments to foster collaboration and issue resolution.

• Share knowledge and mentor junior SREs, promoting best practices and a culture of reliability.
