Job summary

Code1 Tech Systems is seeking a proactive SRE/DevOps Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance our hybrid cloud environment on Microsoft Azure, focusing on patch management, compliance, and IaC automation.

You will leverage Terraform for IaC and Python for scripting to ensure reliability, security, and uptime across Windows and Linux systems. Experience with 3–5 years in enterprise IT is expected.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in SRE/DevOps roles.
• Strong system administration and cloud automation skills.
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments (RHEL/Ubuntu) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enterprise Patch Management & Compliance: Plan, schedule, and execute regular OS patch management cycles across Windows and Linux systems.
• Troubleshoot patch installation failures, resolve non-compliance flags, handle pending reboot states, and perform root-cause analysis on failing update agents.
• Execute minor OS version upgrades and kernel updates on RHEL environments while maintaining repository and subscription integrity.
• Manage Azure core compute and networking components, including VMs, VMSS, and Load Balancers.
• Implement dynamic maintenance configurations, tag-based scheduling, and automated deployment rings for zero-downtime maintenance windows.
• Monitor system health, performance metrics, and compliance dashboards to address infrastructure degradation.

About The Role

We are seeking a proactive SRE / DevOps Engineer with strong system administration and cloud automation skills to support, maintain, and enhance our hybrid cloud environment. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for enterprise patch management, system compliance, and infrastructure automation across Windows and Linux (Red Hat/Ubuntu) virtual machines on Microsoft Azure. You will leverage Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Python for operational scripting to ensure maximum system reliability, security, and uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Patch Management & Compliance:

• Plan, schedule, and execute regular OS patch management cycles across a mixed fleet of Windows (WSUS/Azure Update Manager) and Linux systems (RHEL/Ubuntu via native package managers/Satellite).
• Troubleshoot patch installation failures, resolve non-compliance flags, handle pending reboot states, and perform root-cause analysis on failing update agents.
• Execute minor OS version upgrades and kernel updates on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8) environments while maintaining repository and subscription integrity.
• Manage and maintain Azure core compute and networking components, including Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS), and Azure Load Balancers (frontend IPs, backend pools, health probes, and rule sets).
• Implement dynamic maintenance configurations, tag-based scheduling, and automated deployment rings to ensure zero-downtime maintenance windows.
• Monitor system health, performance metrics, and compliance dashboards to proactively address infrastructure degradation.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation:

• Provision and standardize Azure cloud resources using Terraform.
• Develop and maintain Python automation scripts for pre/post-patching tasks, health verification, automated snapshots/backups, and routine operational workflows.
• Maintain configuration consistency and support CI/CD pipeline integrations for operational tasks.

Required Technical Skills:

• OS: Strong working knowledge of Windows; knowledge of Red Hat/Linux/Ubuntu is an added advantage
• Azure & IaC: Intermediate knowledge of key Azure features and Terraform
• Scripting: Working knowledge of Python scripting
