Job summary

Tata Technologies is seeking a mechanical design engineer with 3–8 years of automotive design experience to lead development of chassis, suspension, wheels and steering components. You will create CATIA models, perform calculations and simulations, and manage data in Teamcenter, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires strong GD&T knowledge, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to present technical concepts to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
• 3–8 years of progressive experience in automotive design, focusing on Chassis, Suspension, Wheels and Steering systems.
• Expert proficiency in CATIA V5 or V6 is essential.
• Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and PLM systems, preferably Teamcenter.
• Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for automotive components.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive components: Chassis, Suspension, Wheels, and Steering systems.
• Conduct requirements analysis and feasibility studies for new designs.
• Create innovative design concepts, layouts and 3D models using CATIA.
• Perform design calculations and simulations to validate performance.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D annotations per industry standards.
• Manage BOM and data release/management in Teamcenter.
• Implement and manage design changes through ECR/ECN processes.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure alignment.
• Ensure adherence to quality parameters, processes, and client requirements.
