Job summary

Reliance Industries Ltd. in Navi Mumbai seeks a seasoned Chemical Process Engineer to drive plant performance, technology evaluation, and process optimization across refinery/downstream operations. Lead root cause analyses, mentor GETs, and implement improvements while managing safety and compliance.

You will evaluate technologies, model processes, and support strategic initiatives with cross-functional teams, ensuring timely milestones and robust documentation.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in process engineering, troubleshooting, process optimization, simulation, and technology evaluation.
  • Sound knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals, applicable industry codes, standards, and process technologies in the relevant domain.
  • Experience in process modelling tools and Advanced Process Control (APC) applications preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking and complex problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to independently handle technical issues and drive effective resolution within the area of expertise.
  • Strong stakeholder management, technical communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Effective networking and influencing capability across plant operations, project teams, and technology functions.
  • Good interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Hands-on competency in: Process Design Review, Process Simulation, Pinch Analysis, Cooling Water (CW) Network Analysis, Flare Network Analysis, Awareness of Design Standards development and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing units for achieving operational, reliability, energy, and performance targets.
  • Lead technology inputs for root cause analysis and resolution of complex process and engineering issues.
  • Identify and implement process, equipment, and technology improvements to enhance plant capacity, efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
  • Evaluate, justify, prioritize, and support execution of plant improvement initiatives, including PIOs, Capex, debottlenecking, and revamp projects.
  • Review and validate process engineering deliverables and technical documentation.
  • Conduct evaluation and selection of technologies, catalysts, chemicals, additives, and fuels for process optimization and business improvement.
  • Perform plant, product, and energy performance audits and benchmarking studies to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely achievement of milestones related to pilot plant studies, scale-up activities, and technology implementation programs.
  • Monitor emerging technology trends, process constraints, and product application developments; recommend suitable alternatives and implementation strategies.
  • Participate in commercial plant trials, performance assessments, and optimization studies.
  • Develop, validate, customize, and maintain process simulation and APC (Advanced Process Control) models.
  • Prepare comprehensive technology evaluation and comparison reports to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives and ensure adherence to process safety standards and best practices.
  • Mentor and guide Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) and support capability development within the technology function.

Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)
