Qualifications

• Significant experience in the design and delivery of building structures.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures.
• Experience reviewing and checking structural engineering work.
• Excellent understanding of UK design standards and Eurocodes.
• Strong communication skills and client liaison ability.
• Ability to coordinate technical work across multiple projects.
• Proficient with FE analysis software (RFEM/RSTAB, SCIA, ETABS).
• Chartered status or progression toward chartership is advantageous.

Responsibilities

As our Design Services team continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to strengthen our technical leadership, working closely with clients and supporting our engineering teams to deliver high-quality projects.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Buildings team. This role is ideally suited to an engineer with strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills who leads the projects, reviewing engineering work, and working closely with clients.

Your responsibilities include leading the projects and reviewing design work, providing technical guidance, resolving engineering issues, and ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality, programme, and client expectations.

The role covers a wide variety of building structures, with a primary focus on reinforced concrete and structural steel. Some experience with precast concrete structures and Scaffolding would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for projects, coordinating with clients and providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and review structural engineering work to ensure technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to design teams throughout project delivery.
• Review structural calculations, reports, drawings, and design documentation prepared by the engineering teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Eurocodes, relevant UK Standards, client specifications, and agreed programmes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and design processes.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements

• Significant experience in the design and delivery of building structures.
• Strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures.
• Experience reviewing and checking structural engineering work.
• Excellent understanding of UK design standards and Eurocodes.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in dealing directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to manage technical coordination across multiple projects.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and sound engineering judgement.
• Familiarity with FEA software such as: Dlubal RFEM/RSTAB, SCIA Engineer, ETABS, or equivalent.

Desirable Skills (but not essential)

The following experience would be considered a strong advantage:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Experience with precast concrete structures.
• Experience in temporary works and/or scaffold design.
