Job summary

Charles Schwab India in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced database professional to join our growing team. You will manage end-to-end database delivery for multiple Agile teams, working with Oracle and PostgreSQL (on‑prem and cloud), and provide production support including on‑call rotations.

Strong SQL, automation, and documentation are essential. This role requires 5–6 years of hands-on Oracle and Postgres operations, familiarity with OEM/Foglight, pgAdmin, Cloud SQL for Postgres, and DevOps

Qualifications

• 5-6 years hands-on Oracle and Postgres operations.
• Experience with OEM and Foglight is required.
• pgAdmin experience is a must.
• Cloud SQL for Postgres and on-prem/cloud DB development.
• Proficiency in automation scripting (Perl/PowerShell) is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

What you have

Role Description

• Support end-to-end database delivery for multiple Agile teams.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, GCP, and Postgres with pgAdmin; and delivery Enterprise-level databases to production.
• Provide production support and participate in on-call rotation.
• Writing queries, views, stored procedures, triggers and other database objects.
• Implementing deployment standards, recommendations, operating procedures, and cost-effective solutions.
• Implement and support complex database migrations and optimization part of consolidation and technology reduction efforts.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, coupled with a desire to take on responsibilities and deliver with minimal defects
• Training associates and offshore developers as needed
• share knowledge, ideas and concepts with the team, collaborate and truly believe in the concept of teamwork

Running scrum events for the team .

Key Responsibilities

• 5 - 6 years of hands-on experience working with Oracle and Postgres database Operations.
• Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Foglight is a must
• pgAdmin (Preferred) experience is a must.
• Cloud SQL for Postgres SQL experience is a must.
• Terraform experience is a good to have.
• Have strong database development skills (Oracle, and Postgres (On-prem, and cloud) preferred, SQL Server is a plus)
• Oracle and Postgres Database Administration experience. SQL Server is a plus.
• Developing enterprise solutions to support in areas like backup, monitoring, alerting, security compliance, and patching for Oracle, and Postgres. SQL Server is a plus.
• Experience scripting languages like Perl, and PowerShell for automation.
• Experience developing and deploying ETL processes for large data sets.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and tools (e.g., GitHub, bamboo, bitbucket).
• Experience with database performance tuning tools and techniques.
• Strong ability to effectively manage multiple, competing, high-priority projects with varying deadlines and be able to work under pressure during production issues.
• Ability to work independently and work well in a small team fast-paced environment.
• Must be passionate about databases, data, and helping others.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, coupled with a desire to take on responsibilities and deliver with minimal defects.
• Experience writing good documentation being detailed oriented.
• Able to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with Microsoft Teams, Jira, Confluence, Remedy, Bamboo and Bitbucket are a must.
• Prior experience in Financial industry is a plus.
