Job summary

Ecolab Global Services in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead development projects through phase gate processes. You will write substantial code, document designs, and help shape system architecture to meet project needs.

You will also fix defects found during QA/testing, assist in requirements gathering, and occasionally coach other engineers, contributing to the overall quality of the software team’s deliverables.

Qualifications

• Degree and 5-8 years of experience, or equivalent 9-12 years combined education and work experience.
• Experience leading software development projects through phase gate processes.
• Strong coding skills and ability to produce design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development projects through phase gate process.
• Write significant amount of code meeting project requirements and standards.
• Create architecture concepts for software systems and document designs.
• Identify and fix defects found in QA and systems testing.
• Assist in requirements gathering and product definition at project start.
• Coaching and guiding junior engineers and testing staff as needed.

• Writes the standard documentation used to translate project needs into software design specifications.
• Assists in creating overall architecture for various software systems.
• Corrects defects found through QA software testing and systems testing.
• Assists in requirements gathering and product definition activities as projects start, and supports field test personnel after development.
• May coach other engineers, and occasionally provides direction to testing and lab support personnel.
• Activities address challenging aspects of code, documentation development, and contribute to oversight of software team work product.

Education/Work Experience

• Typically requires a degree and 5-8 years experience; or no degree and 9-12 years combined education and equivalent work experience (typically 1 year experience = 1 year education).

Independence Level/Reports to

• Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
• Leads projects/research with moderate complexity.
• May provide coaching and review the work of lower-level professionals.
• Normally reports to Software Engineering Manager.
