Job summary

ETAP Delhi is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, test, commission, and support SCADA, DMS, or related automation solutions for electrical networks. You will handle on-site installations, database configurations, and integration with PLC/RTU systems.

The role demands strong communication, ability to work with Site Leads, and hands-on software knowledge including Python, SQL, and networking basics. Travel across India and international opportunities are expected.

Qualifications

• Diploma/bachelor's degree in Control Systems or Electronic/Electrical/CSE/IT Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 to 8 years of experience developing SCADA and network solutions.
• Experience with VMware, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, VBScript and Python.
• Understanding of SQL, Mongo, Oracle & Pie databases is a plus.

Job Title: Automation Engineer

Location: ETAP- Delhi

Employment Type: [full-time ]

The role

The Sr. Automation engineer's role involves designing, engineering, development, documentation, integration, testing, commissioning, and supporting SCADA, DMS, or related Automation solutions for electrical networks of ETAP Software utilizing the skills, tools, and processes. Commissioning of Control Room Setup, SCADA-DMS system consists of RTU/PLC communication. System engineering for automation control projects based on Programmable controllers, operator/field device using SCADA software. Show-up individuality with less supervision in commissioning and service activities in Automation System. Should communicate clearly and follow the instructions from Site Lead or Site manager and perform the task with at most quality. Interact and assistance to the customer, user, and other ETAP field personnel in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned applications. Perform on-site installation and configuration of SCADA-DMS system. Trouble shooting: Testing of SCADA System. Fault finding & troubleshooting during and after the installation Process. Ensure customer satisfaction with maintenance solutions, according to the metrics of service, terms, performance, and quality. Experience of making SCADA & DMS Database, Configurations of equipments like Router, RTU, FRTU, MODEM, Firewall etc. Assist customer with improving reliability and reducing cost of ownership.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• To design, engineer, develop, document, integrate, test, commission, and support SCADA, DMS, or related Automation solutions for electrical networks of our clients utilizing the skills, tools, and processes.
• Develop, implement, test, and troubleshoot SCADA/DMS Databases and HMI utilizing the experience with any SCADA platforms.
• Develop, implement, test, and troubleshoot Communication systems utilizing the experience of IP networking, UDP/TCP/IP, switching and routing, firewalls, gateways, GPRS/EDGE/3G/4G modems, etc.
• Co-coordinate and execute FAT, provide validation support and customer training, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Prepare, coordinate, execute SAT, commission SCADA/DMS system to the client's satisfaction, provide on-site customer training, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Hands on experience of executing SCADA/ADMS/OMS/Industrial/Sustainability projects.
• Experience in PLC/RTU/RMU/FRTU connectivity.
• Experience in implementing plant Historians and reporting tools.
• Experience in scripting - Python/ C#/ C++/VB.
• Experience in database configuration and stored procedure writing - SQL / any other DB.
• Experience on delivering engineering deliverables like – Control Philosophy, FDS, FAT procedure, SAT Procedure, User Manual, Architecture & HMI Graphics Development etc.
• Experience on establishing for Industrial Network Connectivity in OT Layer.
• Experience on Router/managed switch/VLAN configuration with rules/policies.
• CCNA certification will be added advantage.
• Ability to work independently and handling customer interactions.
• Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to analyse the problem and provide solutions.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Diploma/bachelor's degree in Control Systems or Electronic/Electrical/CSE/IT Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 to 8 years of experience developing SCADA and network solutions.
• Applicable technical certifications preferred.
• Experience monitoring enterprise systems and installing security applications.
• Prior experience with VMware, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, VBscript and Python.
• Understanding of SQL, Mongo, Oracle & Pie databases is a plus.
• Relay integration on IEC-61850 protocol. (ABB, Siemens, Micom, Ashida, CGL & Schneider etc)
• Proficiency in communicating technical concepts both verbally and in written documentation.
• Must have knowledge of PPC & MGC functionality.
• Must have knowledge of relay coordination.

Job Specific skills

• Possess 5 to 8 years of experience in automation & SCADA solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA databases.
• Experience with Communications devices such as modems, GSM, GPRS, Gateway, Routers, Firewalls, Ethernet, and OFC.
• Experience of communications protocols such as DNP3, IEC60870-5-101/104/IEC61850, MODBUS Serial and TCP-IP.
• Experience with RTUs, IED, and PLCs systems.
• Knowledge of selecting components used in RTU/Control cabinets like power supplies, UPS, batteries, GSM/GPRS/3G/4G Modems, Radio modems, interposing relays, MCBs, various types of terminals/connectors.
• Possess adequate and advanced experience designing SCADA/DMS/ADMS/OMS systems.
• Competency: Skilled in Microsoft Office & Excel.
• Ability to organize and influence activities with internal and external customers.
• Fluent in English and good verbal and written abilities.
• Travel throughout India and ASP region to support site activities and travel and work internationally.
• Effectively communicate across all levels within the organization regarding complex technical and commercial issues.
• Ability to work in an environment using a decentralized, team-based approach.
• Good communication and presentation skills.

It would be preferable if you also have:

• Exposure to ETAP/PSCAD software or other similar software as well.
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB coding, C++, C# etc.
• Minimum level 1 certification of SCADA-ADMS.
• Experience in the design and implementation of renewable energy systems.
• Master's Degree in Control Systems or Electronic/Electrical/CSE/IT Engineering/ Business or equivalent.
