Job summary

McCormick & Company is seeking a Senior SAP ABAP Developer to design, develop, and deliver SAP solutions across on-premise and SAP BTP ABAP environments. The role emphasizes scalable, maintainable applications and adherence to clean-core principles.

You will mentor junior team members, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive solution architecture, coding standards, and performance optimization across complex enterprise landscapes.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in the SAP ecosystem.
• 5+ years of hands-on SAP BTP ABAP development.
• Proven experience delivering SAP ABAP solutions in large enterprises.
• Strong hands-on expertise in SAP S/4HANA ABAP, SAP BTP ABAP, BAS, RAP, CAPM, SAP Build, and BTP Workflow.
• Ability to translate enterprise requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong business acumen and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• First level contact for the Business Analysts for inquiries re: application or technical solutions.
• Analyzes business requirements and functional specifications to determine effective technical solutions across multiple entities (divisions, functions, countries)
• Provide technical solutions and governance for SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP ABAP solutions, ensuring compliance with architecture standards, development guidelines, and best practices.
• Designs complex solutions across multiple functions, business units, technical tools and/or systems.
• Designs, codes, tests, and implements new application programs and/or modifies existing programs.
• Considers trade-offs between performance, scalability, reliability, availability, maintainability, manageability and business requirements.
• Provides post implementation application support and regular system maintenance and support which will periodically require evening, weekend, and on-call support.
• Support new project initiatives as a Senior Developer, designing and building SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP ABAP objects to meet business and technical requirements.
• Act as a senior technical authority, providing hands‑on guidance, problem resolution, and design support for complex development and integration scenarios.
• May function as Team and/or Project lead responsible for completion of project phase.
• Recommend and promote platform and industry best practices, including cloud‑ready development approaches and clean core principles

Position Overview

The Senior SAP ABAP Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality SAP solutions across on-premise and SAP BTP ABAP environments. The role focuses on building scalable, efficient, and maintainable applications, leveraging advanced ABAP techniques and modern programming models.

As a technical lead, the developer collaborates closely with functional consultants, architects, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust technical designs. They drive solution architecture, enforce development standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure performance optimization and clean-core principles are followed across implementations.

The role also involves developing advanced extensions and integrations using SAP BTP, RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), and cloud-native approaches. Additionally, the Senior ABAP Developer mentors junior team members, promotes best practices, and contributes to continuous innovation within the SAP landscape.
