Job summary

Burckhardt Compression AG in Pune, India, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own compressor design from order receipt to delivery. You will calculate parts per standards (AD-leaflet, PED) and drive projects on casting, materials, and drawings, while supporting customers and field issue resolutions.

The role requires 3–6 years industrial experience, at least 5 years with BC, and SAP and Siemens NX expertise. You will collaborate with global teams and mentor others in rotating equipment applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3–6 years of industrial experience.
• At least 5 years of BC experience.
• Experience in project management.
• ERP systems experience, preferably SAP.
• Siemens NX experience.

Responsibilities

• Own compressor design activity from order receipt to final delivery.
• Calculate and interpret machine parts per guidelines (AD-leaflet, PED).
• Lead projects on casting optimization, standards, material selection, and drawing approvals.
• Provide technical support to customers and resolve field issues, including site visits.
• Collaborate with global counterparts and stakeholders.
• Document processes and knowledge; own specific subject areas.
• Maintain expertise in rotating equipment for relevant segments.
• Conduct training sessions, mentor teams, and perform 4-eye reviews for critical parts.
• Support R&D and strategic projects with calculations.
• Suggest process and product improvements.

Job description

Main responsibilities and tasks:

• Complete custodian of compressor design related activities from receipt of order till the bare block compressor design is delivered.
• Calculate and interpret the machine parts according to Norm-calculation guidelines (AD-leaflet, PED calculations) and internal design standard.
• Drives various projects: Castin optimization, Standards and Improvements, Selection of material, approval of complex drawing by using various internal standards.
• Technical Support and Advice: Provide technical support and advice to internal and external customers regarding various issues with compressors during their runtime. Support the resolution of field complaints, including site visits as necessary.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong collaboration with global counterparts and other stakeholders.
• Documentation and Knowledge Management: Document processes and knowledge, and take ownership of dedicated subjects (product line, segment, process, etc).
• Expertise in Rotating Equipment: Maintain a deep understanding of rotating equipment and its applications in relevant segments and industries.
• Training and Mentorship: Conduct training sessions, act as a mentor, and perform 4-eye reviews for critical components & special calculations.
• Support for Development Projects: Provide calculation support for R&D and strategic projects.
• Process and Product Improvement: Generate and implement ideas for improving processes, products and efficiency.

Education, Experience and Languages:

• Graduate in Mechanical engineering
• 3 to 6 years of industrial experience
• At least 5 years of BC experience
• Experience in project management
• Experience with ERP systems preferably SAP
• Siemens UGNX experience
