Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking an experienced Project Accounting & Month-End Oversight professional in India (Bengaluru) to supervise the project accounting function and ensure accurate revenue recognition and close processes across time zones.

You will collaborate with Sweden and US teams, enhance internal controls, and lead ad-hoc improvement initiatives while leveraging Oracle Projects to improve reporting quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field.
• 6+ years of project/cost accounting experience, including supervising others.
• Working knowledge of Oracle ERP and project workflows (Projects, Costs, AR).
• Experience with US/Swedish GAAP and SOX principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication across geographies.

Responsibilities

• Review monthly billing, revenue recognition, journal entries, and reconciliations for accuracy.
• Ensure documentation standards so external auditors can assess support.
• Coordinate month-end close activities across time zones to ensure a smooth close.
• Serve as internal liaison between India team, Sweden PMs, and Sweden/US accounting teams.
• Lead process improvement projects across project accounting with FP&A, IT, and PMs.

Job description

• Supervise the Project Accountant, including day-to-day workload management, coaching, and performance feedback.


• Review the Project Accountant's monthly billing, revenue recognition, journal entries, and reconciliations for accuracy and completeness prior to closing.


• Hold the team accountable to documentation standards such that an external auditor or reviewer with no prior context could evaluate the reasonableness of the support.


• Identify training needs and hold cross functional teams accountable for providing appropriate, timely


• Serve as the primary internal liaison between the India-based project accounting team, Project Managers in Sweden, and accounting teams in Sweden and the US.


• Coordinate month-end close activities and deadlines across time zones to ensure a smooth, well-communicated close process.


• Resolve questions on project revenue, costs, and account support, escalating appropriately when needed.

Project Accounting & Month-End Oversight

• Oversee monthly billing and revenue recognition in the project accounting module, and perform final validation of project revenue and costs as part of month-end close.


• Review account reconciliations for project-related balance sheet accounts, ensuring balances and reconciling items are clearly documented, supported, and reperformable.


• Critically question balances that are not supported or are significantly aged, and drive resolutions to closure.


• Ensure significant project-related variances are clearly explained in a way that provides valuable insight and supports the accuracy of financial reporting.

Process Improvement & Business Support

• Lead and support ad-hoc process improvement projects across project accounting, partnering with FP&A, IT, and Project Managers.


• Act as a subject matter expert on the Oracle Projects module, identifying missing capabilities or data fields to improve management reporting and financial reporting accuracy.


• Design, document, and maintain effective internal controls and processes to ensure system integrity and compliance with Company guidelines as the organization scales.


• Provide insight and data to drive decision-making as the Company scales operations, implements new systems, and streamlines processes.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or similar field.


• 6+ years of project/cost accounting experience, including prior experience reviewing or supervising the work of others, preferably in a SaaS or enterprise software environment.


• Working knowledge of Oracle ERP (or other comparable system), subledger accounting, and workflows of Projects, Costs, Accounts Receivable, etc. transactions.


• Track record of building or significantly improving accounting processes in a high-growth, fast-paced environment where infrastructure did not previously exist.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience working with Project Managers and other cross-functional teams across geographies.


• Comfortable working across time zones with colleagues in Sweden and the US, with flexibility to accommodate overlapping working hours as needed.


• Experience with US and Swedish GAAP, and knowledge of related accounting principles/theories and concepts (e.g. SOX).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with the Oracle Projects module.


• Prior formal people-management or review/supervisory experience within an accounting team.


• Experience in global financial operations and/or international financial reporting.


• Experience partnering with teams in Sweden and/or the US.
