Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to join the Crew Implementation & PCS team. You will contribute to config, testing, documentation, and maintenance of crew and ops management applications, interfacing with clients to capture requirements.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of software experience, strong Python skills, Linux/Unix familiarity, and experience in airline IT.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant working experience.
• 3+ years Python development/implementation experience.
• 2+ years Linux/Unix experience.
• Experience in airline operations or airline IT, ideally with crew management.
• Experience with Git.

Responsibilities

• Deliver client projects by configuring and customizing our crew and ops management applications using XML, Python, and our proprietary RAVE language.
• Use a test-driven development methodology to ensure top quality, developing automated test cases as you code.
• Work directly with clients to understand their needs and business objectives and use that information to capture requirements.
• Explain system features and customer specific configuration in a clear and confident way to clients, while managing client expectations and building long-term client relationships.
• Travel to visit our clients on occasion.

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I reporting to the Manager, Professional Services of Crew Implementation & PCS in our Bangalore location.

As an SSE, you will work on different software solutions for commercial airlines. You will be responsible for the development of configuration layer, testing, documentation, and maintenance of crew and ops management applications to meet customer, functional, and regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

As part of an agile implementation team, you will:

• Deliver client projects by configuring and customizing our world-leading crew and ops management applications using XML, Python, and our proprietary RAVE language.
• Use a test-driven development methodology to ensure top quality, developing automated test cases as you code.
• Work directly with clients to understand their needs and business objectives and use that information to capture requirements.
• Explain system features and customer specific configuration in a clear and confident way to clients, while managing client expectations and building long-term client relationships.
• Travel to visit our clients on occasion.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• 7+ years of relevant working experience
• At least 3+ years of software development / programming / implementation experience with Python
• At least 2+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment
• Experience in airline operations or airline IT, ideally with crew management
• Experience with Git

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Experience working within a Scrum team or in similar Agile project setups
• Experience with:
• Test framework like Gherkin, Behave
• Interfaces and data integration, XML, XSD
• Building pipelines, using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins
• Virtual machine, using tools such as Vagrant and VirtualBox

Typical Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
