We are looking for
A PCB Design Engineer who turns schematics into manufacturable boards in Altium Designer - and takes pride in a layout that comes back from fabrication working the first time. You will lay out multilayer, high-speed and mixed-signal boards for embedded products across medical, industrial and IoT domains, and own the board’s journey from library to Gerbers to assembled prototype.
The person we are looking for sweats footprints and stack-ups, thinks about EMI and the enclosure before routing the first trace, and stays with the board through fabrication, assembly and bring-up rather than throwing Gerbers over the wall.
Should have the following responsibilities and background
1. Schematic and Library Work
- Work with the development team on schematic design as per product requirements.
- Design and develop schematics in Altium Designer.
- Create and maintain component and footprint libraries for new components - correct the footprint once, not on three boards.
2. PCB Layout
- Design PCB layouts in Altium considering EMI/EMC requirements, enclosure constraints, thermal behaviour and DFM/DFA.
- Route high-speed and impedance-controlled sections: memory interfaces, USB, Ethernet, differential pairs.
- Build 3D models to verify component placement and enclosure fitment before fabrication, not after.
- Generate clean fabrication outputs: Gerbers, drill files, assembly drawings, pick-and-place.
3. Prototype Coordination
- Coordinate with PCB manufacturers on ordering, technical queries and delivery.
- Handle component procurement for prototypes, including alternates when parts are unavailable.
- Coordinate with the prototype assembly team and support the hardware team during bring-up of your boards.
Technical Skills Required
- Altium Designer: Expertise in schematic and PCB design; multilayer and mixed-signal boards.
- High-Speed Layout: Multilayer high-speed design: impedance control, length matching, differential pairs, return paths.
- MCU-based Designs: Layout for 32-bit microcontroller-based designs and their supporting circuits.
- Memory Interfaces: Flash, eMMC, SDRAM, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 - routing, termination and timing constraints.
- Interfaces: On-board (SPI, I2C) and external (USB, Ethernet) interface layout.
- Wireless: Layout for BLE, Wi-Fi, RF, LoRa sections: antenna keep‑outs, matching networks, ground strategy.
- EMI / EMC: Layout practices for emissions and immunity; awareness of CE/FCC pre‑compliance implications.
- Ways of Working: Comfortable in a fast‑paced Agile / Scrum development environment.
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)
- Experience on medical device boards, or other regulated/compliance-driven products.
- Thermal analysis basics: copper pours, thermal vias, dissipation planning.
- Exposure to signal integrity tools or post‑layout simulation.
- Experience in a product design services or contract development environment.
Qualifications
- Engineering graduate in an Electronics-based branch or equivalent.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in PCB design.
- Good verbal and written communication in English.
