You will lead policy creation, ensure data integrity, and supervise daily clearance operations while coordinating with tax, supply chain, and IT teams. The role requires strong knowledge of global trade regulations, audit capabilities, and a track record of delivering cross-functional projects across regions.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of global Trade Compliance principles (customs valuation, incoterms, license and permits, country of origin, HTS classifications, duty optimization, FTAs, export controls).
  • Experience with APAC customs regulations schemes and requirements (AEO, IPR).

Job description

Primary Function of Position

The Sr. Manager Trade Compliance is responsible for the trade operations and development of the strategies, policies, processes, and requirements for medical devices import, export, and trade programs. He/ she will ensure regional compliance while managing the expeditions flow of international trade. The responsibility also includes import and export classification, country of origin, trade preferential, supply chain security (C-TPAT, AEO), export control / license determination, and other trade compliance programs. The ideal candidate would be a subject matter expertise of global trade regulations and experience with customs operations with a strong track record of delivering projects that involves coordination across different functions (e.g. tax, supply chain, etc.).


Essential Job Duties


  • Develop, implement, and manage the relevant trade compliance policies and procedures manuals and standard work documents necessary to successfully manage import and export operations across the region.

  • Supervise import/ export transactions, processes and documentation requirements to facilitate the smooth flow of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs.

  • Oversee daily import / export shipment clearance operations. Lead broker reviews and monitoring to enhance broker performance and cycle times.

  • Manage compliance with preferential-and non-preferential trade, duty suspension, drawback programs and economical customs procedures where applicable.

  • Ensure Regional data integrity related to tariff classification, country of origin, and regulatory information declared to Customs and other Government Agencies.

  • Develop and implement audit programs to ensure the accuracy in the shipping document and customs declaration.

  • Oversee import and export recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance with Corporate Policy and regulations of all government agencies.

  • Supervise pre- and post-entry audits related to customs declaration, forwarder/ brokers, other logistics service providers and suppliers. Follow up with appropriate corrective action and make corrections when non-compliance is identified.

  • Monitor forwarders and customs brokers and evaluate adherence to Intuitive Brokerage SOP and metrics. Report findings to Corporate Logistics Compliance and follow up with documented corrective action related to monthly brokerage metrics reports.

  • Develop and conduct internal risk assessments. Follow-up with Compliance Improvement Plans.

  • Monitor and report on trade compliance effectiveness, identify gaps, advise on local risk and manage mitigation of these risks.

  • Develop and implement cross-functional training program on import/ export requirements.

  • Audit and maintain data governance in SAP and global product database and applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide accurate trade data element including product classification, ECCN, country of origin, license determination to internal business units and outside service providers to ensure compliance with Customs regulations and other trade requirements.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on customs compliance matters, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders on complex issues and transactions.

  • Participate as core team member on new product development, new market launch, new product launch ensuring that all trade compliance requirements are met.

  • Communicate risks, proposals, regulatory updates and strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Interact with IT and Center of Excellence (COE) to streamline and improve import/ export data for compliance; communicate requirements to IT and assist with testing and solutions implementation.

  • Conduct and report findings of internal risk assessments. Follow-up with Compliance Improvement Plans.

  • Provide training to other functional groups on trade programs and import and export requirements.

  • Assist in global and/or regional compliance projects/programs.

  • Provide assistance to company sites, suppliers, and customers in the continuous improvement of their compliance functions.

  • Perform other duties, tasks, special projects as assigned.
