Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a senior leader to guide OpenSearch Core Foundation efforts in Bengaluru. You will lead a multi‑team group of senior engineers and engineering managers, owning roadmaps for core systems and ensuring predictable delivery for log analytics and search workloads.

You will partner with product and business stakeholders to translate customer requirements into priorities, drive architectural decisions for large‑scale distributed systems, and mentor future leaders

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a multi-team organization of senior engineers and engineering managers focused on OpenSearch Core Foundation systems, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and customer obsession.
• Define and execute technical roadmaps for OpenSearch Core Foundation systems, balancing near‑term customer needs with long‑term architectural investments.
• Drive architectural decisions for large‑scale distributed iCore Foundation systems, including index and storage build pipelines, consistency models, and cross‑region index replication.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate customer requirements into engineering priorities, ensuring the team delivers features that have measurable customer impact.
• Establish operational excellence standards for the OpenSearch Core Foundation systems, including availability, latency, and durability targets, and lead the team in meeting and exceeding those targets.
• Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; build a diverse, high‑performing organization with a strong pipeline of future leaders.
• Collaborate across OpenSearch and AWS with peer SDMs and Directors to align on shared infrastructure, resolve cross‑team dependencies, and contribute to org‑wide engineering strategy.
• Communicate complex technical strategies clearly to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications
