Job summary

Hr Services Chandigarh is seeking an experienced Process Safety Management professional to lead and coordinate PSM activities across sites in Ankleshwar and nearby locations.

The role focuses on risk assessments (PHA/HAZOP/LOPA), MOC, incident investigations, and ensuring safe startup readiness and continuous safety improvements through strong collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Projects.

Responsibilities

• New Product Introduction & Process Safety Stage-Gate compliance follow-up and Gap analysis
• Lead and facilitate process safety risk assessments (PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, DHA, HAC)
• Provide technical support for Management of Change (MOC) in high-risk processes
• Oversee process safety incident investigations and define corrective actions
• Establish controls for high-risk processes and storage facilities and elevate critical concerns
• Offer process safety technical support to Unit Safety Teams, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Projects
• Assure reporting and categorization of Process Safety Incidents and Near Misses per API 754, CCPS guidelines
• Coach site Process Safety resources to strengthen PSM implementation
• Drive key Process Safety Management initiatives across clusters and ensure timely closure
• Contribute to Process Safety culture transformation and cross-functional teamwork
• Assure critical deliverables (PHA/HAZOP, PSSR, LFI/CAPA, PSM audits) and ensure timely closure
• Track and close high-risk actions arising from risk assessments, audits, and incidents
• Monitor Leading and Lagging Process Safety indicators and address emerging risks
• Develop and implement Process Safety standards, procedures, and technical guidance
• Conduct regular plant/site rounds to identify unsafe conditions and drive corrective actions
• Support Process Safety training and competency development at site level
• Provide centralized Process Safety support to other clusters/sites as required
• Conduct and/or facilitate PSSR for new projects and significant changes to verify readiness and close findings

Job description

Process Safety Management Key Responsibilities

1. New Product Introduction & Project Stage-Gate Compliance
   Facilitate New Product Introduction (NPI) and project activities to ensure successful compliance with the 7-Step Product Life Cycle / Process Safety Stage-Gate requirements. Identify gaps or deviations and proactively appraise management for appropriate support and corrective actions.
2. Process Safety Risk Assessments
   Lead and facilitate process safety risk assessments for new and existing projects, including PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, DHA, HAC and other applicable methodologies, ensuring risks are identified, evaluated, and effectively mitigated.
3. Management of Change (MOC)
   Provide technical support and inputs for Management of Change involving high-risk processes, operations, equipment, materials, and technologies, ensuring process safety risks are adequately assessed and controlled.
4. Process Safety Incident Investigation
   Oversee and actively participate in process safety incident investigations. Provide technical expertise to identify root and underlying causes, define effective corrective/preventive actions, and ensure measures are implemented to prevent recurrence.
5. High-Risk Process & Operation Control
   Establish and monitor controls for high-risk processes, operations, and storage facilities, as well as medium-risk processes. Identify gaps and deviations and elevate critical concerns to management with appropriate recommendations.
6. Process Safety Technical Support
   Provide expert process safety technical support to Unit Safety Teams, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Projects to ensure safe and compliant operations in line with company standards, applicable regulations, and recognized industry practices.
7. Process Safety Incident & Near-Miss Reporting Assurance
   Ensure effective reporting, classification, review, and assurance of Process Safety Incidents and Near Misses in alignment with API 754, CCPS guidelines, and applicable organizational requirements.
8. Capability Building of Site Process Safety Resources
   Support, coach, and handhold site Process Safety resources to build effective understanding and consistent application of Process Safety Management systems, tools, methodologies, and expectations.
9. Implementation of Key PSM Initiatives
   Drive and monitor progress of key Process Safety Management initiatives across the respective cluster, ensuring timely implementation, effectiveness, and closure of identified gaps.
10. Process Safety Culture & CFT Engagement
    Actively contribute to safety culture transformation and provide technical support to Process Safety Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs), promoting risk-based thinking, process safety ownership, and continuous improvement.
11. Process Safety Assurance
    Take an active role in assurance of critical Process Safety deliverables, including PHA/HAZOP, PSSR, LFI/CAPA, PSM audits, risk assessments, and other assurance activities, ensuring quality and timely closure.
12. High-Risk Action Tracking & Closure
    Track and facilitate onsite completion of high-risk actions arising from risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, PSSR, and other Process Safety activities. Escalate overdue or critical actions to management.
13. Leading & Lagging Indicator Monitoring
    Monitor the mechanism for Process Safety Leading and Lagging Indicators across sites, with specific focus on critical Tier-4 and other process safety performance indicators, and support sites in addressing emerging risks.
14. Process Safety Standards & Guidance
    Support the development, review, and implementation of Process Safety standards, procedures, guidelines, and technical guidance to strengthen safe operating practices and ensure consistent application across sites.
15. Process Safety Plant Rounds
    Conduct regular plant/site rounds to identify unsafe conditions, process safety vulnerabilities, and deviations associated with high-risk processes, operations, equipment, and storage systems, and drive appropriate corrective actions.
16. Process Safety Training & Awareness
    Provide support for key Process Safety training, competency development, and awareness programs at unit/site level to strengthen employee understanding and application of PSM principles.
17. Cross-Cluster Process Safety Support
    Provide centralized Process Safety expertise and support to other clusters/sites, as required, to meet business requirements, address critical risks, and ensure consistency in PSM implementation.
18. Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR)
    Conduct and/or facilitate PSSR for new projects, modifications, and significant changes to verify readiness for safe startup and operation. Track identified findings/actions through effective closure before startup.
