Job summary

Epam Systems is seeking a Sr/Lead Python Backend Engineer in Bangalore to own the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend systems. You will lead with Python frameworks, AWS cloud architecture, and mentor a backend team while coordinating with product and frontend groups.

You will drive technical decisions, ensure code quality and performance, and guide sprint planning in an Agile environment. Strong leadership and hands-on coding are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Python and frontend frameworks (React/Angular).
• Strong understanding of microservices, RESTful APIs, and asynchronous programming.
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and infrastructure design.
• Proficient in databases PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.
• Experience with Docker and orchestration (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
• CI/CD pipeline design using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of backend systems using Python and frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask).
• Architect scalable solutions leveraging AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFormation).
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Frontend to define system architecture.
• Mentor junior developers and perform regular code reviews.
• Drive technical decisions and roadmaps aligned with business goals.
• Manage sprint planning, task estimation, and delivery in Agile/Scrum environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python, cloud architecture using AWS, and leading backend teams in delivering robust and high-performance applications. This role will also require hands‑on coding, architecture planning, and mentoring team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend systems using Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django, Flask) and Javascript, React OR Angular
• Architect scalable and maintainable solutions leveraging AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFormation).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and Frontend to define and deliver system architecture.
• Ensure high standards in code quality, performance, and scalability.

• Define and enforce best practices for backend architecture, security, and data modeling.

Required Skills:
