Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a senior Java backend engineer in Maharashtra to drive backend services, microservices architecture, and cloud-native solutions. You will design RESTful APIs, implement CI/CD pipelines, and enhance observability across distributed systems.

The role emphasizes resilience, testability, and scalable architectures with hands‑on work in Java 8+/Java 17, Spring Boot, Docker, and AWS services in a modern engineering environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial back-end development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8+, Java 17 exposure preferred.
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Solid experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of Docker and container-based deployment.
• Practical experience with AWS (Lambda, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, KMS).
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and query tuning.
• Experience with observability tooling (Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch).
• Strong unit testing with JUnit and Mockito.
• Familiarity with resiliency patterns (Resilience4j, circuit breakers).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Delivery pipeline improvements (CI/CD, build reliability, deployment automation).
• Improve automated test coverage and quality across services.
• Monitoring, telemetry, and observability for third‑party integrations.
• Fallback and resiliency mechanisms (circuit breakers, retries, failover).
• Make microservices more robust and self‑healing.
• Refactor legacy services to improve maintainability and performance.

Key Focus Areas

• Delivery pipeline improvements (CI/CD, build reliability, deployment automation)
• Improving automated test coverage and quality across services, with a target of achieving and maintaining high coverage levels where appropriate
• Monitoring, telemetry, and observability for integrations with third‑party services
• Fallback and resiliency mechanisms (circuit breakers, retries, failover)
• Making microservices more robust and self‑healing
• Refactoring legacy services to improve maintainability, testability, performance and operational resilience

Required Skills

• **7+ years** of commercial back‑end development experience
• Strong hands‑on experience with **Java 8+**, with **Java 17** exposure preferred
• Deep expertise with **Spring Boot**, **microservices**, and **event‑driven distributed architectures**
• Solid experience designing and building **RESTful APIs**
• Working knowledge of **Docker** and container‑based deployment
• Practical experience with **AWS**, including **Lambda, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, and KMS**
• Hands‑on experience with **MySQL** — schema design, query tuning, and performance optimisation
• Experience with **observability** tooling — metrics, logging, distributed tracing (e.g. **Splunk**, **Datadog**, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch)
• Strong grounding in unit testing with **JUnit** and **Mockito**, with a quality‑first mindset
• Familiarity with **resiliency patterns** (Resilience4j, circuit breakers, bulkheads)
• Experience with **CI/CD pipelines** (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Desirable

• Kubernetes / container orchestration
• Prior experience focused on platform observability
• Experience working across distributed teams and time zones
• Experience with API and event contract testing, and establishing automated compatibility guarantees between microservices and their consumers
