Job summary

Insight seeks a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect to define and govern the architectural direction across GCP infrastructure and platform engineering. You will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of secure, scalable enterprise cloud foundations in a highly collaborative, hybrid-work environment.

Responsibilities include building reusable patterns, translating designs into Terraform/OpenTofu templates, and partnering with security and FinOps teams to ensure governance and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering with at least 4+ years deploying on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven track record defining enterprise-grade reference architectures, landing zones, and reusable infrastructure patterns.
• Deep hands-on experience with IaC and version control/pipeline tooling (Terraform/OpenTofu, GitHub/GitLab).
• Expertise in GCP security fundamentals: IAM, Organization Policies, Shared VPCs, policy governance.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve enterprise reference architectures on GCP.
• Translate designs into IaC templates and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with Cloud Security to embed IAM, encryption and governance.
• Collaborate with FinOps to build cost governance and tagging strategies.
• Define telemetry, logging, observability standards for high availability.
• Lead architecture reviews, PRs, and PoCs to validate solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentoring to engineers.
• Assist project managers and clients to improve delivery quality and speed.

About the role

As a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect at Insight, your primary responsibility is to define, evolve, and govern the architectural direction across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure and platform engineering initiatives. In this role, you will lead the design and deployment of secure, resilient, highly available, and cost-effective enterprise cloud platform foundations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve reusable enterprise reference architectures and platform patterns on GCP covering compute, storage, networking, IAM, and data infrastructure
• Translate architectural designs into versioned, modular Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu) templates and automated CI/CD pipelines managed via GitHub.
• Partner with Cloud Security teams to embed IAM, encryption, network segmentation, VPC designs, and policy-as-code guardrails into core infrastructure
• Collaborate with FinOps teams to build cost governance, tagging strategies, and resource efficiency into all architectural patterns.
• Define enterprise standards for telemetry, logging, observability, and operational production readiness to maintain high availability
• Lead architectural review boards, quality-review infrastructure code, and conduct experiments or proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to validate technical solutions.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership, mentoring engineers and communicating complex designs clearly to cross‑functional stakeholders
• Assist the Project Managers and Clients in making high‑impact decisions to improve the quality/time-to-market of the delivery where relevant

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Google Professional Cloud Architect certification (or ability to achieve certification within the first 90 days of employment).
• Minimum 10+ years of work experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering, with at least 4+ years of dedicated experience architecting and deploying solutions specifically on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven track record of defining enterprise‑grade reference architectures, landing zones, and reusable infrastructure design patterns
• Deep hands‑on proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or OpenTofu) and version control/pipeline tooling (GitHub/GitLab), including structuring reusable module repositories.
• Expertise in GCP cloud security fundamentals, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), Organization Policies, Shared VPCs, service perimeters, and policy-as-code governance
• Demonstrated experience establishing monitoring, logging, and observability standards for complex enterprise environments
• Strong track record architecting for core non-functional requirements such as high availability, disaster recovery, security, scalability, and performance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to document architectures and present complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
