Job summary

Bloom Energy Mumbai team is seeking a motivated Engineer to support its Fuel Cell Materials Engineering development team. The Stack Engineer will be part of an interdisciplinary group to improve performance and manufacturability of fuel cell stack technologies.

Responsibilities include failure analysis, root cause investigation, and developing test plans; collaboration with testing and cross-functional teams; and hands-on data analysis and materials characterization to mitigate root causes.

Qualifications

• Fundamental knowledge on fuel cell technology and electrochemistry.
• Strong failure analysis and root cause analysis skills.
• Proactive drive for results and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of materials characterization techniques (SEM, EDS, XRD) and EIS preferred.
• Very strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams, in a fluid and fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of impedance analysis is an added skill.
• Knowledge of SQL, VB scripts and Excel macros is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Python scripts is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Identify failure modes in fuel cell systems during development.
• Investigate field performance and failures; develop Pareto analysis.
• Support future product engineering and HB data analysis.
• Coordinate with testing team to run stack tests and document results.
• Analyze test data and propose mitigation for root causes.
• Apply statistics to production/field data for performance insights.
• Use 8D and 5 Why methods for root cause investigations.
• Present findings with clear reports to the team.
• Develop new test protocols to address failures.
• Perform post-mortem analysis and materials characterization.
• Support material characterization activities; hands-on data work.

Job description

The Bloom Energy Mumbai team is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to support its Fuel Cell Materials Engineering development team. The Stack Engineer will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team to improve the performance and manufacturability of current and future fuel cell stack Technologies. Hiring a Stack engineer to support Bloom Energy servers Engineering and field failures analysis, conduct detailed root cause investigation and develop test plans to investigate the root cause.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Support all engineering development Fuel cell systems analysis in identifying various failure modes.
• Support investigation of Fuel cell Systems performance & failure issues during field operating conditions and develop a failure pareto.
• Support Bloom Energy future product engineering/field HB data analysis.
• Interface with testing team to timely execute stack tests and ensure all required documentation are completed.
• Analysis of test data and provide recommendations for mitigating the root causes with the team support.
• Apply statistical techniques to analyze production and/or field data to learn about product performance, reliability.
• Apply techniques like 8Ds, 5whys to investigate the root cause.
• Present clear reports to the team on the deep dive analysis.
• Develop and execute new test protocols to Turn-on/off failure modes and performance issues.
• Perform meticulous and careful post-mortem analysis of test articles to investigate the root cause and apply extensive knowledge of materials characterization techniques to gain insight into various failures modes.
• Support material characterization activities as and when required.
• Must be willing to do Hands-on data analysis and failure analysis activities.

Key Skills Required

• Fundamental Knowledge on fuel cell technology, electrochemistry.
• Demonstrate good failure analysis and Root cause analysis skills.
• Strong drive for results and continuous improvement.
• Good knowledge on materials characterization techniques (SEM, EDS, XRD), and electrochemical diagnostics such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) preferred.
• Very strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams, in a fluid and fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of impedance analysis is additionally preferred skill.
• Knowledge on writing SQL,VB scripts and excel based macros is added advantage.
• Knowledge on writing Python scripts is advantage.
