Job summary

You will design ILT, VILT, WBT, certifications, labs and hands-on experiences, applying instructional design principles and collaborating with SMEs and product teams to ensure impactful education for customers and partners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in instructional design or technical training development in a software/tech environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop technical learning solutions including ILT, VILT, WBT, microlearning, videos, certification exams and other modalities.
• Create learning paths, certification programs, pre- and post-assessments.
• Produce learner guides, instructor guides, lab guides, job aids, ebooks, videos and audio scripts.
• Apply the full instructional design lifecycle to deliver learner-centric solutions.
• Utilize adult learning principles and LxD methodologies.
• Collaborate with SMEs, Product Management, Development, Support and Services to align content with goals.
• Understand BMC Mainframe products and interact with product teams.
• Analyze learner roles, requirements, tasks and skill gaps to design targeted training.
• Ensure content quality with Education Managers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to a diverse learning ecosystem across virtual, social, video and ILT formats.

You will lead the creation of complex training content for both standard and custom needs, leveraging your expertise in development tools and processes. Your role will ensure that BMCs customers and partners receive top-tier, up-to-date educational experiences.

Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMCs and your own success:

• Design and develop technical learning solutions including Instructor-Led Training (ILT), Virtual ILT, Web-Based Training (WBT), microlearning, videos, certification exams, and other learning modalities.
• Design and develop learning paths, certification program, pre assessments, and post assessments
• Develop a wide range of deliverables including but not limited to learner guides, instructor guides, lab guides, job aids, ebooks, instructor guides, student guides, lab guides, videos, audio scripts, assessment/certification exam questions
• Apply the full instructional design lifecycle (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver effective learner-centric solutions.
• Utilize adult learning principles and learning experience design (LxD) methodologies.
• Collaborate with SMEs, Product Management, Development, Support, and Services teams to gather inputs and technical content to develop effective education content aligned with business goals.
• Understand BMC Mainframe products through product exploration, documentation and interacting with the product development and implementation teams.
• Analyze learner roles, business requirements, tasks, and skill gaps to design targeted training solutions.
• Collaborate with Education Managers and technical stakeholders to ensure content quality, accuracy, and alignment with learning objectives.
• Contribute to building a strong learning ecosystem using diverse delivery methods including virtual, social, video, and instructor-led formats.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting quality and delivery commitments.

To ensure youre set up for success, you will bring the following skillset experience:

• 7+ years of experience in instructional design or technical training development, preferably within a software or technology environment.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and learning design methodologies.
• Proficiency with training development and authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline/Rise 360, Easygenerator, Certiverse, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and Captivate
• Ability to manage projects independently from initiation to delivery of learning solutions.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and certification development.
• Familiarity with Mainframe technologies and the ability to learn complex technical products quickly.
• Experience working with SMEs to transform technical information into engaging learning experiences.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capability to handle multiple priorities.
• Experience designing hands-on labs and working on lab environment readiness

Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:

• Exposure to AI-enabled learning tools, GenAI, chatbots, AI avatars, or adaptive learning platforms.
• Familiarity with learning analytics, dashboards, LMS/LXP platforms, SCORM/xAPI, and digital publishing workflows.
• Experience with role-based learning paths, certification frameworks, assessments, UX, accessibility, or responsive learning design.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, cloud labs, sandbox environments, or hands-on technical lab platforms.
• Knowledge of mainframe technologies such as z/OS, JCL, ISPF, JES2, DB2, IMS, and CICS will be an added advantage.
• Ability to use modern collaboration and productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Teams, SharePoint, and project management platforms.
