Job summary

BMC Software is seeking a seasoned professional with extensive mainframe experience in an IBM z/OS environment.

The role emphasizes designing, testing, and implementing OEM vendor products and system exits, with strong skills in MVS Assembler, JCL, VSAM, and related tooling.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience designing, testing, and implementing mainframe OEM vendor products and system exits in an IBM z/OS environment.
• Proficient in MVS Assembler, JCL, VSAM, JES2/3, SDSF, ISPF, REXX, and/or C programming.
• Familiarity with z/OS internals, I/O, and Channel programs.
• Experience with QA principles including test planning, test cases creation, execution, and defect reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and implement mainframe OEM vendor products and system exits in z/OS.
• Diagnose, debug and troubleshoot using IPCS, GTF, and XDC.
• Provide QA deliverables such as test plans, cases, results, and defect reporting.

To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

• 6+ years of experience designing, testing, and implementing mainframe OEM vendor products and system exits in an IBM z/OS environment.
• Extensive experience coding MVS Assembler using MVS supervisor services, cross memory services and data management facilities.
• Extensive experience in a combination of the following - JCL, VSAM, JES2/3, SDSF, ISPF, REXX, and/or C programming.
• Diagnostics, Debugging and Troubleshooting skills using IPCS, GTF, and XDC.
• Experience in QA principles, including test planning, test cases creation, execution, test results documentation & defect reporting.
• Knowledge of storage management/administration (DFSMS, DFSMS/HSM, virtual tape systems, DASD).
• The ability to work independently, solve complex problems and effectively reassess work priorities.
• Knowledge of z/OS Internals, Channel program, I/O and Control blocks.
• Experience supporting and developing MVS systems software.

Nice To Have

• Knowledge of trimodal instructions, access register mode, SRB and zIIP processing.
• Experience using IBM utilities (IEBCOPY, IEBGENER, SORT, IEHLIST, AMBLIST, etc.).
• Experience with working on BMC AMI FDR products.
