BMW TechWorks India Private Limited in Pune seeks a Sr. Design Engineer to own Upper Body structures development with cross-functional teams. Lead releases for module scope and ensure product function readiness for respective carlines.

Candidate should have 5+ years in automotive design, a mechanical engineering degree, and strong CATIA V5/V6 skills. Collaboration, mentoring, and global time-zone coordination are valued. Proficiency in sheet metal and extrusions is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in automotive Design and Development.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent collaboration skills, proactive, teamwork-oriented mindset with the ability to operate across different time zones.
• Strong expertise in Catia V5/V6 CAD design with focus on structured and parametric modelling for Upperbody components.
• Knowledge of Sheet Metal, Aluminium extrusion profiles and castings.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and mentor.

• You will be managing and responsible for Upper Body structures development with cross functional team for the scope defined by module organization
• You will be responsible for ensuring that the releases are required for the module scope including the product functions for respective carline
• You will be responsible for reporting problems, risks, deviations from planning or targets, etc. and offering solutions/alternatives for the same.

What should you bring along

• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in automotive Design and Development and should have delivered at least 2 complete projects as / Lead Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent collaboration skills, proactive, teamwork-oriented mindset with the ability to operate in a multicultural environment across different time zones.
• Strong expertise in Catia V5/V6 CAD design with a focus on structured and parametric modelling for Upperbody components
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods Sheet Metal components, Aluminium Extrusion profile and Castings.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and mentor.
• Knowledge of BMW work environments is advantageous (PRISMA, NextOne, PQM, IRAM)
• Good communication and English language skills (German language is an advantage)

Must have technical skill

• Very good skills in CATIA V5, especially in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, Drafting, and Digital Mock-up
• Familiarity with different manufacturing technologies for Sheet Metal, Casting, extrusion & Plastic components
• Understanding of Part fixation and assembly processes / Joining technologies

Good to have Technical / Soft skills

• Experience with collision checks and integration of special characteristics, General tolerances & Stack tolerances
• Experience participating in cross functional meetings and stakeholder coordination
