GE Vernova is seeking a seasoned Cyber Security Engineer capable of developing cutting‑edge cyber security detection solutions. This role will also be a driving force behind the adoption of new detection technologies based on behavioral analytics and machine learning. This position is responsible for leading the development of enterprise platforms that enable the monitoring, automation, and orchestration of GE's network security platforms, including both physical and virtual IDS, and big‑data analytics. The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will be expected to leverage open‑source technology and industry standard programming languages to enhance cyber security operations. Success in this role will require delivery of engineering, software development, and build‑automation projects in an agile environment.
In this role, you will: Shape the technology strategy and approach to securing GE's assets in cloud and on‑premise environments Implement detection and monitoring rules to meet security and compliance requirements for GE's IaaS, Paas, and SaaS , OT environments Apply hands‑on approach to driving the development, improvement and enhancement of detection technologies in support of GE Vernova's transformation strategy. Provides high‑quality cost‑effective engineering support to key GE leadership teams to protect the companies brand. Works with cross‑functional teams and cross‑business teams to drive broad‑reaching technology initiatives Promotes best practices, design patterns, standards through workshops, knowledge sharing, and code walk‑throughs Builds automation around operations & software development processes (CI/CD) Provides mentorship, advice, and skill enhancement to junior team members. Participates in afterhours support rotation to ensure that critical performance issues are resolved in a timely manner, in accordance with established customer expectations and SLAs. Design, build, and continuously improve detection coverage using AI/ML capabilities, behavioral analytics, and big‑data analytics across enterprise environments Build intelligent automation to streamline alert triage, threat prioritization, and response execution — reducing alert fatigue and accelerating mean time to respond (MTTR) Leverage AI/ML to improve detection accuracy and integrate automated decision‑making into security workflows Evaluate and drive adoption of emerging security technologies with an AI/ML focus, including proof‑of‑concept delivery and technical assessments Monitoring, Investigation & Incident Response Deliver automated alert triage, threat analysis, and incident investigation across enterprise environments Develop and improve AI‑enhanced response playbooks and escalation processes to maximize security effectiveness Design and execute incident response plans and tabletop exercises to test organizational readiness Provide post‑incident analysis and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across security operations Monitor the threat landscape and deliver timely, actionable threat intelligence to senior leadership Vulnerability Management Drive enterprise‑wide vulnerability identification, prioritization, and remediation aligned to risk standards Maintain visibility of estate‑wide vulnerability posture and deliver regular reporting to leadership Embed vulnerability management practices into development and delivery pipelines (CI/CD) Support tooling rollout and optimization; escrow critical vulnerabilities and systemic risks to appropriate stakeholders Platform & Integration Engineering Lead development of enterprise security platforms enabling monitoring, automation, and orchestration of GE's network security estate, including physical and virtual IDS Engineer security integrations across cyber tooling, IT systems, cloud platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and OT/product environments with AI‑driven enhancement capabilities Implement security controls across the technology stack to meet security and compliance requirements Shape technology strategy for securing GE assets across cloud and on‑premise environments Automation & Software Development Build automation around security operations and software development processes (CI/CD) with intelligent, data‑driven decision‑making capabilities Leverage open‑source technologies and industry‑standard programming languages to enhance cyber security operations Deliver engineering projects in an agile environment with a focus on quality, speed, and measurable outcomes Leadership & Collaboration Promote best practices, design patterns, and security standards through workshops, knowledge sharing sessions, and code walk‑throughs Provide mentorship, guidance, and skill development to junior and mid‑level team members Work with cross‑functional and cross‑business teams to drive broad technology initiatives Participate in after‑hours support rotation to ensure critical security issues are resolved in line with established SLAs
For roles outside USA: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with basic experience. For roles in USA:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum years of experience 5 to 8 years.
