Job description

Role Overview

This role serves as the central authority for regulatory strategy and compliance governance across the lending lifecycle. The Senior Compliance Manager will drive end-to-end alignment with RBI regulations, banking‑partner frameworks, and IPO‑readiness requirements, ensuring the organisation operates with the highest standards of regulatory integrity, risk control, and governance. The role goes beyond execution and includes policy design, regulatory strategy, board‑level reporting, and external stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Strategy & Governance: Interpret and implement RBI Master Directions, Digital Lending Guidelines (DLG), and evolving regulatory frameworks from an NBFC and LSP perspective. Build and continuously enhance the compliance framework across lending, co‑lending, FLDG structures, outsourcing, and consumer protection.
  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a strategic advisor to leadership on regulatory risks, product structuring, and expansion initiatives.
  • Fair Practices & Data Privacy: Ensure alignment with the Fair Practices Code (FPC), KYC/AML norms, data privacy, and dark pattern regulations.
  • RBI, SEBI & Regulatory Relationship Management: Manage end-to-end interactions with RBI, including inspections, supervisory queries, audits, and regulatory submissions. Independently manage filings across RBI portals – Pravaah, DAKSH, and CIMS – with high accuracy. Act as the primary compliance SPOC for banking partners, especially SEBI and other co‑lending/NBFC partners. Drive regulatory alignment in co‑lending partnerships, escrow mechanisms, and risk‑sharing arrangements.
  • IPO Readiness & Governance: Lead compliance workstreams for IPO readiness, including strengthening internal controls and governance frameworks. Ensure regulatory disclosures and documentation readiness; work closely with Legal, Finance, and merchant bankers. Support due diligence, DRHP preparation, and regulatory filings from a compliance standpoint. Establish board‑level reporting mechanisms and compliance dashboards.
  • Product & Business Compliance: Conduct end‑to‑end compliance reviews for new lending products, embedded finance and insurance‑linked products, and securitisation/direct‑assignment structures. Ensure strong consumer protection, grievance‑redressal, and transparency mechanisms. Provide compliance sign‑offs and recommendations before product launches.
  • Risk Assessment & Compliance Testing: Design and implement enterprise‑level compliance risk frameworks across the lending lifecycle – from origination and underwriting to servicing and collections. Conduct periodic compliance testing, audits, and gap assessments. Present findings and action plans to senior leadership, the Board, and Compliance Committees.
  • Automation & Process Excellence: Drive automation across regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring, partner due diligence, and audit workflows. Implement scalable systems for real‑time compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Mentor and manage a team of compliance professionals. Collaborate with Product, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams. Act as the bridge between internal teams, regulators, auditors, and banking partners.
Experience
  • 6–12 years of experience in NBFCs/fintech lending companies or Financial Services practice at top‑tier law/consulting firms.
  • Proven experience in handling RBI inspections, bank partnerships (SEBI preferred), and IPO readiness/compliance.
Technical Expertise
  • Deep understanding of RBI Master Directions for NBFCs, Digital Lending Guidelines (DLG), co‑lending, FLDG, and securitisation frameworks.
  • Strong exposure to RBI reporting systems: Pravaah, DAKSH, and CIMS.
  • Familiarity with SEBI regulations and IPO processes is a strong advantage.
  • Working knowledge of IRDAI regulations for embedded products.
Skills
  • Excellent analytical drafting, policy‑writing, risk‑assessment and competency capabilities. Strong regulatory‑interpretation skills.
  • High ownership, attention to detail, and process‑skills orientation.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management and communication skills.
