Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in India is seeking a Sr Advanced Embedded Engineer to lead software verification and design activities for avionics systems.

You will contribute to DO-178B/C programs, drive test architectures, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, certifiable embedded software solutions.

Experience with C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and simulation tools is essential, along with strong stakeholder communication and risk management.

Qualifications

Job Description – Sr Advanced Embedded Engineer

• 10-12 years of experience in avionics software development, system design, and software verification, with at least 3 years as a Technical Lead in software verification or development.
• Strong technical skills with emphasis on software development and verification processes, certification, and DO‑178 design assurance guidelines.
• Experience across aerospace products in software development and verification.
• Strong understanding of software verification methods and tools currently in use, as well as industry standards and direction.
• Experience preparing and executing project plans, schedules, cost estimates, baseline change management, risk mitigation, technical design reviews, management reviews, customer coordination meetings, and cost/schedule/status reporting.
• Highly motivated, able to influence technical decisions.
• Strong communication skills across multiple stakeholders, including executive communication; presents ideas concisely and listens effectively.
• Green belt and/or DFSS certified.

Responsibilities

• Experience in working on DO‑178B/C aerospace programs.
• Experienced in driving common test architecture, environment, and strategies, tools, and processes.
• Proficient in C, C++, Python, and embedded programming.
• Experience using Gen AI tools such as ChatGPT, large language models, and natural language processing to develop application utilities for process automation.
• Responsible for working closely with internal and external stakeholders (Product COE, PI, TOOLS, CERT), influencing them and driving upstream connectivity and change.
• Define the Burning Platform for the functional team and ensure it is embraced, understood, and referenced, while motivating the team to address it.
• Identify, prioritize, and deploy key improvement strategies and initiatives to drive productivity and cycle‑time improvements in line with the Software V&V COE SDP priorities.
• Drive common test environments, tools, processes, and test methodologies; oversee Capex/OPEX, infrastructure, and oversight reduction strategies.
• Responsible for talent strategies of the team as per the TRR and CDP plan; develop strong technical leadership within the product line.
• Influence software architecture to support the most efficient testing approach.
• Stay abreast of the latest embedded software testing technologies within aerospace and adjacent fields.
• Review and approve the preliminary design review and critical design review for the most efficient test approach and solution.
• Expertise in using debuggers, simulators, Vector Cast/Cover, MATLAB.
• Evaluate new technologies (multi‑core processors, handheld, graphics, etc.), new architecture design tools, and develop processes that help mistake‑proof work efficiently.
• Lead technical development activities, guide lower‑level engineers, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and drive objectives of quality, cost, and schedule.
• Manage stakeholders within and outside the organization, demonstrating the ability to identify and propose technical improvements using engineering expertise.
