Job summary

Carnival Cruise Line is seeking a seasoned SQL Server DBA to install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments, including Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure VMs.

You will manage migrations, backups, storage, security, and high-availability solutions, while tuning performance and handling on-call production issues. Night shifts occur roughly two weeks per month as part of 24/7 support.

Qualifications

Hands-on MS SQL Server 2012/2016/2019 experience.
Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure VMs.
Proficient in Windows Server, PowerShell, and Batch scripting.
Experience with backups, recovery, and disaster recovery.
Experience with Always On availability groups.
Knowledge of MSSQL performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Experience with database migrations and schema/object migration.
Familiarity with Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
Experience with SSIS and SSRS.
Strong communication and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.

Perform database migrations, especially Azure SQL MI to SQL Server on Azure VM, including assessment, planning, execution, cutover, and validation.
Manage backup, recovery, storage, security, user access, and database objects.
Monitor and improve SQL Server performance, including query and database tuning.
Implement and maintain SQL Server Always On and high-availability solutions.
Plan and execute maintenance, patching, upgrades, and configuration changes following change-management procedures.
Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, backup, and other production issues.
Perform RCA for major incidents and implement corrective actions.
Automate repetitive DBA tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Maintain database standards, procedures, security, data integrity, and documentation.
Provide proactive support and technical guidance to users and DBA team members.
Work with Azure infrastructure and support enterprise-level database environments.
Participate in 24/7 production support, including approximately 2 weeks of night shift per month.

Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.
