Responsibilities

• Support production, UAT, and development environments with day-to-day database administration tasks.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server database systems.
• Manage routine database operations such as monitoring, maintenance, purging, and alert handling.
• Manage and refresh DEV and QA environments to ensure consistency with production data (where applicable).
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies for queries, indexes, and server configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve blocking, deadlocks, and other performance bottlenecks.
• Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
• Proactively monitor system behavior to predict potential performance or failure issues.
• Advise development and support teams on performance issues and recommend tuning solutions.
• Perform capacity planning and monitor resource utilization.
• Stay updated with evolving database technologies and infrastructure changes.

We are looking for SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 5-8 years of experience to manage, maintain, and optimize our SQL Server database environments. The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, automation, and troubleshooting across Production, UAT, and Development environments.

Key responsibilities:

• Support production, UAT, and development environments with day‑to‑day database administration tasks.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server database systems.
• Manage routine database operations such as monitoring, maintenance, purging, and alert handling.
• Manage and refresh DEV and QA environments to ensure consistency with production data (where applicable).

2. Performance Tuning & Optimization

• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies for queries, indexes, and server configurations.
• Provide expertise in database performance tuning and SQL Server performance features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve blocking, deadlocks, and other performance bottlenecks.
• Proactively monitor system behavior to predict potential performance or failure issues.
• Advise development and support teams on performance issues and recommend tuning solutions.

3. Backup & Recovery

• Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
• Ensure database recoverability through proper backup strategies and validation.
• Ensure system stability and availability through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.

4. Indexing & Query Efficiency

• Proficient in creating and managing clustered and non‑clustered indexes.
• Understand and manage index fragmentation and perform index maintenance activities.

5. Security & Access Management

• Ensure database security through proper user access management and role‑based permissions.

6. Automation & Scripting

• Automate routine DBA tasks using T‑SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and administrative tasks.

7. Capacity Planning & Monitoring

• Perform capacity planning and monitor resource utilization.
• Continuously assess database growth and performance trends.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills to resolve complex database issues.
• Handle production incidents with focus on root cause analysis and long‑term fixes.
