Job summary

Altraize is seeking a Database Operations professional to provide 24x7 RDBMS and NoSQL support across international teams. You will install, configure, tune, upgrade, and maintain database platforms, ensuring high availability, security, and performance while supporting application teams and production workloads.

Candidate will handle backups, monitoring, and DR procedures, participate in on-call rotations, and drive cost-saving opportunities within global groups.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with MSSQL and PowerShell for database operations.
• Hands-on knowledge of Exadata environments and platform tuning.
• Proficient in configuring Linux/Windows for database performance.
• Strong understanding of networking, storage, servers, and virtualization.
• Expertise in logical/physical DB design, install/config, and backups.
• Experience with performance tuning, migrations/upgrades, and HA/CLUSTERING.
• Familiarity with replication, DR, security, auditing, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, tune, upgrade, and maintain database systems.
• Ensure workloads are delivered on plan and budget for projects.
• Provide consultancy to app support and development teams on DB/design.
• Perform daily health checks for production systems.
• Ensure backups succeed and issues are resolved promptly.
• Ensure DB jobs run reliably and resolve issues quickly.
• Monitor alerts and ensure capacity to support BAU growth.
• Respond to emails and tickets promptly; focus on customer needs.
• Maintain secure, highly available, and performant DB platforms.
• Support DR procedures and apply security updates per policy.
• Review vulnerabilities from scans and remediate findings.
• Keep operational procedures current; participate in on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for database installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades and general maintenance activities.
• Responsible for ensuring that all project/investment related workloads are delivered according to plans and budget defined.
• Responsible for providing consultancy to application support and development teams on database and systems design.
• Responsible for ensuring daily health and compliance checks are performed for all Production systems.
• Responsible for ensuring database systems are backed up successfully and any issues are promptly resolved.
• Responsible for ensuring database jobs are running successfully and any issues are promptly resolved.
• Responsible for ensuring database monitoring alerts are detected promptly and satisfactorily resolved.
• Responsible for ensuring sufficient capacity is available to accommodate projected BAU growth.
• Responsible for ensuring all emails sent to the team distribution list are responded to in a timely manner.
• Responsible for ensuring problem tickets and service requests are handled with efficiency and the customer in mind.
• Responsible for ensuring database platforms are highly available, reliable, secure and performant.
• Responsible for providing technical support to application support and development teams.
• Responsible for executing disaster recovery procedures when necessary.
• Responsible for applying database security updates as per defined policies.
• Responsible for reviewing and subsequently remediating items detected by Qualys vulnerability and compliance scans.
• Responsible for ensuring all operational procedures are kept current and accurate.
• Responsible for participating in On-Call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.
• Responsible for identifying cost saving and optimisation opportunities within MUS EMEA and the wider MUFG group.
• Responsible for building strong relationships across the Bank and Securities with other Bank and Securities functions and business areas, underpinned by trust and the core values of the bank.
