Job Overview

Specialist – Piping supports the Discipline Manager in achieving project and engineering process and procedure goals. The position provides leadership, champions inclusion and diversity, drives global delivery, and maintains a culture of innovation. It applies a disciplined deployment, ensures training and development, and manages professional employees and/or supervisors or multi‑discipline support teams with a large and significant span of control. This role is accountable for the performance and results of a team within its area of specialty and adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges, guided by policies, procedures and the business plan. The Specialist provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and customers, drives design consistency across projects by standardizing templates, specifications, and workflows, and promotes continuous improvement in design efficiency, digital tools, and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• The Piping Design Manager leads and manages piping design activities for life sciences projects—including pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, biotechnology plants, sterile/aseptic production suites, R&D laboratories, utility systems, and cleanroom environments.
• Ensures all piping design deliverables meet project requirements, regulatory standards, GMP compliance, client expectations, and quality and safety standards.
• Provides site experience and solutions to complex issues at the site.
• Acts as the primary point of contact for piping design matters with clients, PMCs, and EPC/EPCM partners.
• Participates in design workshops, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and constructability studies.
• Provides technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE/Btech) degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong experience designing pharmaceutical/life science/biotech facilities, including specialty chemical facilities, and deep knowledge of inter‑discipline requirements in these environments.
• Location flexibility to work in Navi Mumbai, Gurgaon, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, or Chennai (candidate will be considered only for pharma & life science projects).
