Job summary

DP World in Navi Mumbai seeks a Specialist- Forwarding Finance at the Global Service Centre to oversee financial reporting, compliance, and performance analysis, providing strategic insights to senior management. You will handle monthly and yearly closings, ensure IFRS/US GAAP alignment, and support audits while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve processes and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in General Ledger or a related field.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
• Familiarity with accounting software and systems (e.g. Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and ensure timely closure of accounting processes in line with Indian GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP, and Ind AS.
• Assist in consolidated financial statements and audit documentation.
• Prepare reports to ensure compliance with the Companies Act, Internal Financial Controls, and SOX requirements.
• Handle project/activity costing, cost audits, and development expense provisioning.
• Provide receivables provisioning, revenue recognition, and oversee fund transfers from overseas.
• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash reporting.
• Prepare and review expense accruals for proper allocation.
• Assist month-end and year-end closing activities for the General Ledger.
• Maintain high-quality data entry and integrity of financial records, ensuring supplier accounts are up to date.
• Identify discrepancies or bottlenecks and escalate to supervisor for resolution.
• Follow internal policies and controls to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Engage in cross-functional training to understand broader business impacts.

Role Purpose:

Oversee financial reporting, compliance, and performance analysis, ensuring accurate financial statements and providing strategic insights to senior management to drive business growth and decision-making.

Designation: Specialist- Forwarding Finance-Global Service Centre (GL)

Base Location: Navi Mumbai

Reporting to: Asst. Manager -Forwarding Finance- Global Service Centre

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Prepare and ensure timely closure of all accounting processes, supporting the accurate preparation of monthly and annual financial reports in compliance with Indian GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP, and Ind AS standards.
• Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting documents for audit purposes.
• Prepare financial reports to ensure compliance with the Companies Act, Internal Financial Controls, and SOX compliance requirements.
• Prepare project/activity-based costing, cost audits, and provisioning for product development expenses.
• Prepare provisioning for receivables, revenue recognition, and assist in the timely transfer of funds from overseas accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash position reporting.
• Prepare and review expense accruals to ensure proper allocation and timely recognition of expenses.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities related to the General Ledger, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
• Ensure high-quality data entry and maintain the integrity of financial records, ensuring that supplier accounts and transactions are accurate and up to date.
• Identify and escalate unresolved discrepancies, anomalies, or process bottlenecks to the Team Lead/Manager for further investigation and resolution.
• Follow internal policies, procedures, and accounting controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and legal regulations, mitigating financial risks.
• Participate in identifying process improvement opportunities, contributing ideas to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
• Actively engage in cross-functional training to build knowledge of broader business functions, supporting collaboration and gaining insights into the overall customer experience and financial impact.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
• Ability to work well in a team environment while also being able to handle individual tasks effectively.
• Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills to manage customer inquiries and resolve issues professionally.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
