Magna Powertrain in India seeks a Specialist - Competitive Intelligence & Benchmarking to support strategic planning by delivering market, competitor and industry insights. You will collect, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to identify opportunities and risks, and provide data-driven recommendations to regional and global teams.
The role requires deep knowledge of eDrive and Hybrid transmission components, benchmarking methodologies, and experience with benchmarking databases.

Job title: Specialist - Competitive Intelligence & Benchmarking
Competitive Intelligence (CI) Team supports the strategic planning and business decision-making processes by providing actionable market, competitor, customer, and industry insights. As part of the support function, this role assists business leaders and cross-functional teams by delivering transparency into the external business environment, competitive landscape, and emerging market trends. The position involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple sources to identify opportunities, risks, and potential competitive threats. Delivering accurate intelligence, proactive analysis, and data-driven recommendations is considered a key success factor in enabling regional and global teams to make informed strategic decisions and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage.
Perform technical analysis of e-Drives and Hybrid transmission based on data from benchmarking providers and teardown activities to identify: Integration Levels (Xin1, vs. 3in1) E-Motor technology, design features, technical properties, etc. Inverter architecture and technology, filter concepts, interfaces, etc. Gearbox and housing architecture, cooling/lubrication concept, bearing concept, etc. Create reports on specific work packages (e.g. related to Needs) Documentation of results in Benchmarking Database Analysis of patents, publications and announcements for new technologies or products Performing/Support of physical teardown activities and analysis.
Bachelor of Engineering/M. Tec in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Automotive Engineering.
Advanced Microsoft Excel Certification.
5+ years' experience in automotive engineering
Understanding of eDrive systems and Hybrid Systems (architectures, motor, inverter, gearbox, cooling)
Knowledge of electrical machines (PSM, ASM, WRSM)
Knowledge of Inverter technologies and power switches (SiC/IGBT)
Knowledge of different power electronic topologies
Design and testing electronic circuits
Understanding of EMC/EMI
Knowledge of PCBA design and manufacturing process
Optional: Competency in On-board-charger and DCDC technology
Ability to analyze technical data, schematic and datasheets/documentation
Basic knowledge of manufacturing technologies and cost drivers
