Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Hyderabad is seeking an Atlassian Cloud Administrator who will own day-to-day operations of Jira and Confluence for a global organization.

You will translate business requirements into scalable platform configurations, supporting a user base across the enterprise to accelerate delivery cycles. The role requires 3.5 to 7 years of hands-on Atlassian administration experience, experience with Xray, ScriptRunner, and JSU, and a proactive mindset for tool optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or related field.
• 3.5 to 7 years of hands-on experience.
• Solid hands-on Atlassian administration experience, covering enterprise-scale Jira and Confluence configurations.
• Practical experience supporting or administering shared IT platforms or large-scale enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with marketplace apps including Xray Test Management (or similar testing tools), ScriptRunner and JSU.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to prioritize and resolve platform issues independently.
• Fluent in English.
• A proactive mindset focused on tool optimization and process automation to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders and engineering colleagues to improve platform governance, resulting in higher system efficiency.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Atlassian Cloud Administrator who works effectively independently and within a collaborative team. You translate business requirements into scalable, stable platform configurations, proving your ability to align technology with business needs. You manage, optimize, and support enterprise-level environments. You apply sound engineering principles to unblock software teams, resulting in faster delivery cycles.

This role owns day-to-day operations and improvements for our Jira and Confluence environments. You support a footprint of 25,000 Jira users and 35,000 Confluence users across the global organization.

What will you do in this role

• Administer and maintain the Atlassian Cloud Platform (Jira, Confluence, marketplace apps) to ensure high availability and performance.

• Troubleshoot platform issues for cross-functional teams to minimize delivery delays and maintain productivity.

What should you have

• Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.

• 3.5 to 7 years of hands‑on experience.

• Solid hands‑on Atlassian administration experience, covering enterprise-scale Jira and Confluence configurations.

• Practical experience supporting or administering shared IT platforms or large-scale enterprise applications.

• Familiarity with critical marketplace apps including Xray Test Management (or similar testing tools), ScriptRunner and JSU.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to prioritize and resolve platform issues independently, demonstrating your technical capability.

• Fluent in English.

• A proactive mindset focused on tool optimization and process automation to drive continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills:

• Background in software engineering, quality assurance testing, or platform support.

• Understanding of Agile, Lean, or DevOps principles and structured delivery practices.

• Experience drafting structured user guides or internal technical documentation.

• Experience operating in a regulated enterprise environment.
