Job summary

Maersk is seeking a focused Ocean Operations Coordinator in Navi Mumbai to support day-to-day vessel and cargo execution, coordinating operations across the shipping network with a strong eye for accuracy and efficiency. You will apply established processes and work with internal teams to ensure timely, compliant delivery of customer cargo.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in shipping, logistics, ocean operations, freight forwarding, supply chain, or shared services preferred.
  • Basic understanding of ocean transportation, vessel operations, cargo movement, and shipping documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office; ability to learn enterprise systems quickly.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality.
  • Ability to identify routine operational issues and escalate non-routine problems appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day Ocean Operations Execution activities related to seagoing vessels, including owned, chartered, and VSA operations.
  • Coordinate operational and administrative activities to ensure smooth cargo and container movements across the shipping network.
  • Execute assigned operational tasks in line with SOPs and business guidelines.
  • Apply standardized methods while exercising independent judgement within defined boundaries.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support vessel operations, maintain service quality, and ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain accuracy, quality, and compliance across processes by following controls and documentation standards.
  • Monitor activities and identify issues, escalating complex situations to minimize disruption.
  • Contribute to operational efficiency by supporting process improvements and reliable admin and operations support.

Purpose of the Role

The role is responsible for supporting Ocean Operations Execution by coordinating day-to-day vessel and cargo operations, ensuring adherence to standardized operational processes, and providing administrative and operational support to enable the efficient movement of customer cargo. The role applies established procedures, exercises independent judgement within defined guidelines, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality operational services. You will be Responsible for:

  • Supporting day-to-day Ocean Operations Execution activities related to seagoing vessels, including owned, chartered, and Vessel Sharing Agreement (VSA) operations.
  • Coordinating operational and administrative activities to ensure the smooth execution of cargo and container movements across the shipping network.
  • Executing assigned operational tasks in accordance with established work routines, standard operating procedures, and business guidelines.
  • Applying standardized operational methods while exercising independent judgement to resolve routine issues within defined boundaries and escalating non-routine exceptions where required.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to support vessel operations, maintain service quality, and ensure timely completion of operational activities.
  • Maintaining accuracy, quality, and compliance across operational processes by adhering to established controls and documentation standards.
  • Monitoring assigned activities and identifying operational issues, taking appropriate action or escalating complex situations to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Contributing to continuous operational efficiency by applying job-related knowledge, supporting process improvements, and delivering reliable administrative and operational support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in shipping, logistics, ocean operations, freight forwarding, supply chain, or shared services is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of ocean transportation, vessel operations, cargo movement, and shipping documentation.
  • Knowledge of standardized operational procedures and the ability to follow established processes while exercising sound judgement within defined guidelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to quickly learn enterprise systems and operational platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple operational tasks while maintaining accuracy and service quality.
  • Ability to identify routine operational issues, prioritise work effectively, and elevate non-routine problems appropriately while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
