Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation is seeking an experienced Commodity / Account Management & Strategic Sourcing professional in India. You will establish sourcing goals, negotiate contracts, and analyze price proposals to improve price, quality, timing and supply reliability.

Lead global sourcing initiatives for electromechanical and proprietary electrical components, and drive cost reduction with strategic supplier partnerships.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/BE in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 7–9 years total experience with strong Sourcing/Procurement background.
  • Hands-on experience in Should Costing / Cost Engineering and supplier negotiations.
  • Experience managing RFQs, supplier negotiations, and sourcing projects.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOM structures, and manufacturing docs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost drivers for electromechanical components.

About this role / Job Summary

Experienced Commodity / Account Management & Strategic Sourcing professional. Establishes sourcing goals and acceptable service levels. Responsible for negotiating and administering contracts and analyzing price proposals to enhance price, quality, timing and reliability of supply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead global sourcing initiatives for the Electromechanical/ Proprietary electrical product category, driving cost reduction, supply base optimization, and risk mitigation.
  • Category includes products such as wire harnesses, electrical control boxes, heaters, drives, ignitors, inverters, transformers, contactors, switches, sensors, and related electromechanical assemblies.
  • Build and validate a pipeline of cost reduction opportunities using spend analytics and design/commercial levers such as LPP (Linear Performance Pricing), Best Source to Buy, Cost vs. Index, Parametric Modelling, Contract Analysis, VAVE, SKU Rationalization, and Resourcing.
  • Perform detailed should‑cost analysis and cost modeling to identify savings opportunities.
  • Lead supplier negotiations using structured negotiation strategies and fact‑based negotiation packs to secure value for the enterprise while maintaining long‑term supplier relationships.
  • Implement idea pipeline through close collaboration with CFT involving regional teams from procurement, engineering, quality, operations & suppliers.
  • Ensure timely realization and tracking of savings commitments and project deliverables.
  • Manage end‑to‑end RFQ/ RFP processes, including part selection, bidder identification/ selection, onboarding suppliers, launching RFQ using Ariba & other tools, managing quotes, quote analysis, supplier negotiations & sourcing recommendations considering holistic evaluation including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and lifecycle cost considerations.
  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives and procurement goals.
  • Analyze market trends, commodity movements, and supplier cost structures to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Leverage digital tools, automation, and analytics platforms to improve sourcing effectiveness and productivity.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • B.Tech from an accredited institution in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering.
  • 7-9 years of total experience, with significant background in Sourcing/ Procurement.
  • Strong experience analyzing spend data, supplier performance, and procurement metrics to identify cost reduction ideas & drive them to implementation.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in Should Costing / Cost Engineering, including cost breakdown analysis, manufacturing process assessment, and fact‑based supplier negotiations.
  • Hands‑on experience managing RFQs, supplier negotiations, and sourcing projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOM structures, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and supply chain dynamics related to electromechanical and proprietary electrical components.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed global environment with stakeholders across Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Finance, and Operations.
  • Self‑motivated, highly accountable, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech degree from a Tier‑1 or Tier‑2 engineering institution.
  • Experience with SAP, Ariba, and aPriori costing tools.
  • Exposure to global supplier markets and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Background in HVAC, industrial manufacturing, automotive, business consulting (cost reduction and procurement transformation projects), or other engineering‑driven industries is preferred.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams, with the ability to drive performance and develop team capabilities.

  • Annualized & In‑year realized cost savings delivered against target.
  • Spend reviewed for sourcing decision.
  • Turnaround time (TAT) improvement on all the standard processes.
  • Idea pipeline generation and realization %.
  • Inflation mitigated through negotiations & other levers.
