Job summary

Standard Chartered India is seeking a finance professional to focus on process efficiency and align to FC Cost Controllership. You will connect to the big picture and drive efficiency in processes, quality and cost across banking finance operations.

Responsibilities include ensuring continuous efficiency improvements in FC Cost Controllership, managing MIS, and collaborating with onshore finance and other GFS teams. Strong analytical mindset and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • CA/CMA/CS or MBA/postgraduate with 3+ years in Accounting and Control Finance.
  • Deep knowledge of end-to-end book close in a large international bank.
  • Strong communication and influencing senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous efficiency in FC Cost Controllership activities.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with onshore finance and other GFS teams.
  • Prepare periodical MIS and driver analyses.
  • Validate accrual documents and investigate aged balances.
  • Lead through ambiguities and manage stakeholders.
  • Monitor governance of close activities and publish status.

  • Ensuring that continuous efficiency improvement in FC Cost Controllership activities and an established process exists to constantly identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Strong Analytical and Strategic mindset, coupled with a thorough understanding of Accounting and Financial Control in Banking Industry with experience in transformation of book close processes
  • Ability to design and build structured processes with consensus of key leaders in the wider organisation.
  • Ability to understand and connect business drivers and rationale for and application of those relevant to the GL suspense processes.
  • Significant experience of working with management team and of interfacing with Non-Finance community and Finance community and influencing stakeholders.
  • Able to quickly establish professional presence and have an excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Substantial experience of banking, depth and breadth of knowledge in processes especially in the areas of Project accounting and related processes
  • Strong ability to understand and prepare periodical MIS and its drivers and synthesize them into meaningful analyses as required. Develop analysis & interpretations as required to facilitate management decision making.
  • Ability to Validate the documents for accruals and investigate, work on the aged/risk balances if any
  • Implement process to eliminate non value added activities in future.
  • A team player with the management ability and track record to secure the confidence and respect of the peers, stakeholders and the executive management team.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, multitask, lead through ambiguities, influence where he/she does not have direct authority & build on unstructured formative situations
  • Experience on risk reporting on the various business/segments on bank from accounting perspective

Skills And Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of the e2e book close process in a large international Bank and relevant key measures that drives effectiveness of these processes
  • Effective communication skills, including presenting and influencing senior management.
  • Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others in decision making
