Job summary

Bayer in Bangalore seeks a seasoned Enterprise Architect to lead data architecture, governance, and DevOps automation for our CORE platform and connected systems. You will shape the data model, align deployment timelines with the CORE Playbook, and drive strategic data initiatives across global teams.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10 years in enterprise data design, SAP data models, and hands-on toolchain integration (Azure DevOps, SAP Solution Manager, ServiceNow).

Qualifications

• 8 to 10 years of experience in systems design, enterprise data architecture, and software development lifecycles.
• Deep expertise in SAP product data models (S/4HANA, QM, LIMS) with hands-on integration of Azure DevOps and SAP Solution Manager.
• Strong understanding of life-science industry and GMP regulations and their data implications.
• Proven leadership in managing architectural changes within a global matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead Value Stream Data definition, modeling, and integration across deployments.
• Guide CORE template solution and governance for major/minor releases with recognized playbooks.
• Drive CI/CD adoption using the enterprise toolchain to automate releases and testing.
• Ensure Release Management guardrails, manage WPs and RfCs, mitigate cross-system conflicts.
• Educate value stream leads, architects, and SMEs on data design and automation.

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

• Global Data & Automation Accountability: Globally accountable for the functional design, governance, enterprise data architecture roadmap, and DevOps automation strategies for the CORE platform (S/4HANA) and interconnected satellite systems.
• Process & Data Delivery: Delivers world-class, highly standardized quality data structures and agile DevOps methodologies, ensuring seamless integration across all deployment teams and alignment with the CORE Deployment Playbook.
• Primary Strategic Contact: Acts as the primary Enterprise Architecture and Quality-oversight contact for value streams and deployment teams on topics related to Quality Data modeling, toolchain integration, and DataOpspractices.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Enterprise Data Architecture & Modeling: Lead Value Stream Data definition, modeling, and integration efforts across different deployments. Ensure data architectures align with the broader enterprise strategy and support complex deployment scenarios, including Data Migration Verification and Hot Cutovers (HCO).
• Deployment & Release Support: Partner with quality value streams and deployment teams to design, govern, and support the CORE template solution. Guide teams through Major Releases (tracked via SolMan Focused Build) and Minor Releases (via Enhance Pace), ensuring alignment with integrated planning cycles.
• DevOps Toolchain & Automation Adoption: Drive ITOps and project teams to adopt continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. Utilize the enterprise toolchain (Azure DevOps, SAP Solution Manager, ServiceNow, and CALM) to automate release management and testing processes.
• Release Governance Compliance: Ensure scrum teams operate within the guardrails of the Release Management Concept, properly managing Work Packages (WPs) and Requests for Change (RfCs), mitigating risks associated with Hibernating Work Packages and Cross-System conflicts.
• SME Education: Actively engage and educate business value stream leads, Enterprise Architects, and SMEs on functional data design, automation solutions, and navigating the release calendar.

Key working relations

• Value stream leads across Product Supply and related batch traceability/satellite solutions.
• IT Operations, Release Management Teams, and specific deployment teams (e.g., US-CS, T3 Austria Pilot).
• CORE program management, Enterprise Architecture teams, Change Advisory Board (CAB), and PMO

WHO YOU ARE:

• Experience: 8 to 10 years of experience in systems design, enterprise data architecture, and software development lifecycles.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in SAP product data models (S/4HANA, QM, LIMS) combined with hands-on experience integrating Azure DevOps and SAP Solution Manager.
• Industry Understanding: Profound understanding of the life-science industry, GMP regulations, its processes, and the strategic importance of enterprise data architecture for Quality
• Leadership: Proven leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills, with experience managing architectural changes and automation initiatives in a global matrix organization
