Job summary

TOP 1 Percent Career Club (opc) seeks a senior Civil Engineer to lead and supervise civil works for utility-scale Solar PV projects in India. You will ensure safety, schedule, budget, quality and adherence to IS codes and project specs.

You will oversee site development, foundations, roads, drainage, cable trenches, and coordination with planning, electrical and QA/QC teams while managing contractors and driving progress from mobilization to handover.

Qualifications

  • 59 years of overall experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong experience in MMS/Tracker pile foundations, RCC foundations, site grading and development, internal/approach roads, storm-water drainage, cable trenches, inverter/transformer foundations, control room/substation civil works, boundary wall/fencing.
  • Experience in contractor and subcontractor management.
  • Good knowledge of civil construction methods, quality control and site execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of IS Codes, project specifications and QA/QC procedures.
  • Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving and team-management skills.
  • Willingness to work at remote solar project sites and travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage day-to-day civil construction activities at Solar PV project sites.
  • Execute civil works as per approved IFC/GFC drawings, BOQ, specifications and method statements.
  • Monitor site grading, excavation, filling, compaction and land development activities.
  • Supervise MMS/tracker pile and RCC pedestal foundations.
  • Monitor foundations for inverter/transformer, SCB, control room, substation and other electrical equipment.
  • Execute internal roads, approach roads, drainage systems, culverts, boundary walls/fencing and cable trenches.
  • Coordinate civil works required for MMS/tracker erection and electrical installation.
  • Review topographical survey, geotechnical investigation and soil reports.
  • Coordinate setting-out, levels, alignment and dimensions of civil structures.
  • Identify site constraints related to soil conditions, water logging, rocky strata and uneven terrain.
  • Support optimization of grading, drainage and foundation solutions based on site conditions.
  • Ensure civil construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs and quality standards.
  • Inspect reinforcement, shuttering, concreting, excavation, backfilling and compaction activities.
  • Coordinate concrete cube tests, material inspections and other required quality tests.
  • Raise and close NCRs and punch points in coordination with QA/QC teams.
  • Ensure proper preparation of WIR, MIR, inspection reports and as-built documentation.
  • Manage civil contractors, subcontractors, manpower and site resources.
  • Monitor contractor productivity and daily/weekly progress.
  • Verify quantities executed at site and support measurement certification.
  • Coordinate material, manpower and equipment requirements with contractors.
  • Resolve site-level technical issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly civil work plans.
  • Monitor progress against project schedules and identify delays/bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Electrical, Mechanical, QA/QC, HSE and Project Management teams.
  • Ensure civil work fronts are released on time for subsequent MMS, module and electrical activities.
  • Review civil drawings, BOQs, design calculations and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants and design teams for drawing clarifications and revisions.
  • Provide technical inputs for foundation, drainage, road and site-development-related issues.
  • Support value engineering and optimization of civil quantities and construction methodology.

Job description

Role Purpose

To manage and supervise civil engineering activities for utility-scale Solar PV projects, ensuring that

all civil works are executed safely, within schedule, budget, quality standards, and approved

engineering specifications.

The role will be responsible for civil execution covering site development, grading,

piling/foundations, roads, drainage, equipment foundations, cable trenches, buildings and other

Balance of Plant (BoP) civil works.

Key Responsibilities
1. Civil Project Execution
  • • Supervise and manage day-to-day civil construction activities at Solar PV project sites.
  • • Execute civil works as per approved IFC/GFC drawings, BOQ, specifications and method statements.
  • • Monitor site grading, excavation, filling, compaction and land development activities.
  • • Supervise MMS/tracker pile and RCC pedestal foundations.
  • • Monitor foundations for inverter/transformer, SCB, control room, substation and other electrical equipment.
