Job summary

GlobalLogic in Chennai seeks a Software Test Engineer to join our embedded/medical device software team. You will write test procedures, execute plans, and log defects, working with software and hardware teams to ensure quality across the lifecycle.

You’ll develop test scripts, contribute to automation, and help improve data collection, analysis, and test infrastructure. A background in software testing for regulated medical devices and experience with Jira/Confluence is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, electrical/electronics engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in software testing.
• Strong understanding of test methodologies (performance, load, stress, functional, regression, unit).
• Thorough understanding of SQA processes and experience implementing them.

The Software Test Engineer will be responsible for writing test procedures, test reports, executing test plans and filing bugs. The candidate must be comfortable working with complex electro-mechanical systems, deploying new software releases and running the test protocols on the systems. The candidate will work in close relationship with the software team and other stakeholders to improve the test infrastructure, data collection, data analysis and measure software product quality and performance throughout the software development lifecycle. We are looking for a candidate that can work independently but also function well within a team and with other functional groups, is detail-oriented, highly motivated, and willing to take responsibility & ownership.

Requirements

• Bachelors in software engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of progressive experience in software testing
• Strong understanding of test methodologies such as performance, load, stress, functional, regression, unit, etc.
• Thorough understanding of SQA process; should have experience in implementing SQA process(es) previously.
• Must have experience writing test protocols, test cases, test scenarios.
• Strong analytical/communication skills, capable of uncovering anomalies in robust software.
• Experience with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with JIRA or any similar bug tracking tools.
• Experience with JAMA or any similar test management tools.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, Batch, Bash and Linux commands
• Software testing for complex electro-mechanical systems
• An approachable individual who provides a high level of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
• Highly Desired: Additional years of experience, experience with robotics systems
• Experience in the Medical Device industry or medical field
• Knowledge on Windows and Linux operating systems
• Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.

Job responsibilities

• Analyzes application specific software and performs ambiguity reviews of business requirements and technical functional specification documents.
• Works with development teams to understand and review technical design to devise effective test strategy and is flexible enough to source out this information even without formal requirements.
• Writes thorough test plans/test protocols, test cases, test scripts and test scenarios.
• Executes test protocols, test cases, test scripts and scenarios and log/follow-up on defects.
• Perform thorough review of test plans/test protocols, test cases, test scripts and test scenarios.
• Works with other functional groups, and stakeholders.
• Creates test automation scripts.
