Job summary

Applied Materials India in Bangalore is seeking a versatile senior software manager to lead cutting-edge software development for inspection products. You will build a strong Agile team, guide product software delivery, and drive adoption of the latest technologies across CPU/GPU architectures.

You will supervise developers, optimize performance, provide technical mentorship, and collaborate with global teams to align with business needs and product roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering with CE/EE background.
• Minimum of 10 years of software development with new product development, bug fixing, maintenance, and continuous integration releases.
• Minimum 4+ years of driving/contributing towards HLD & LL D, code reviews & coding practices (clean code & SOLID principles).
• Minimum 5-6 years in technical road-mapping, field interaction, cross-functional teamwork, project leadership, and handling teams of 6-12 members.
• Minimum 3+ years in Python programming and libraries (e.g., NumPy, OpenCV, pandas).
• Proven experience deploying AI/ML solutions and integrating these models into production-grade software systems on GPU/CPU architectures.
• Awareness of containers & orchestration technologies such as Docker.
• Advantage: Experience in Java.
• Advantage: Strong fundamentals and hands-on experience in C++/C programming for optimizing throughput.
• Minimum 1-2 years of people management experience.
• Strong experience working in global teams and handling multiple stakeholders.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and tool chain.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Product software development team deliverables from requirements to final code delivery with required software quality.
• Provide technical mentorship to teams by learning the product domain and software infrastructure.
• Lead and manage 8–10 software developers and QA, ensuring clear direction and outcomes.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance to engineers during development.
• Define functional and design specifications, implementation, and verification plans.
• Maintain strong communication with stakeholders including end users and applications teams.
• Adopt Agile development methodologies and ensure SDLC best practices.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Coordinate multi-site collaboration across time zones.
• Lead hiring and build a task force for the team.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a versatile senior software manager to develop cutting‑edge software solutions for new/existing products in the Inspection domain. Inspection provides the science, techniques, and precision devices that are used to determine if parts or features of a chip have any defective locations. Using Inspection tools, chipmakers can achieve the required extreme inspection sensitivity, inspect more often, collect more data, accelerate yields, and lower the cost per wafer. The system combines industry‑leading speed with high resolution and advanced optics that capture more data per scan.

In this role, your duties will be to develop and deploy new products with the latest technology, build a strong team with an Agile mindset, and adopt quick changes according to business needs.

Also, you will supervise software developers, analyze software performance and configuration systems, manage the deployment and integration of new software, and hire new software developers. You will work with the latest technology like React, Redux, Java, Spring, Python, image processing, AI/ML, and MySQL with monolith/SOA/microservice architecture running on CPU/GPU. You will also evaluate and introduce new technology to improve performance, user experience, and developer experience.

Roles and Responsibility

• Responsible for Product software development team deliverables from requirements to final code delivery with required software quality.

• Maintain strong communication skills to interact with and influence stakeholders, including end users of the products and applications engineering teams.
• Expert in Software Development Life Cycle and exposure to Agile development methodologies.
• Good problem‑solving and debugging skills.
• Work effectively in a multi‑site environment with teams across time zones.
• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments and support team members to deliver on expectations.
• Lead teams to support organizational initiatives and generic issues.
• Involve in hiring and building a task force for the team.
• Ready to work in a techno‑managerial role with significant technical contribution from the manager.
• Will travel to onsite locations for business meetings, version installations, and software support as required.
