Job summary

Inseego Corp in Bengaluru is seeking a Software Test Engineer to lead test planning, execution, and reporting for multiple IoT and embedded projects. You will develop automated scripts from scratch and collaborate with program managers, developers, and QA engineers to ensure quality across releases.

The role requires 3+ years in software/hardware testing, experience with embedded Linux/RTOS, IoT platforms, and testing tools such as Wireshark and Jira. A Bachelor's degree is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computers/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification is required.
• 3+ years of experience in quality engineering and software/hardware testing.
• Experience testing IoT devices/Data cards/M2M devices and/or hardware.
• Experience with embedded Linux/RTOS and cloud-based IoT platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute test cases and plans at functional and system levels.
• Perform black and gray box testing to reveal defects in released or development products.
• Develop automated tests and tools to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot, and drive root-cause investigations with cross-functional teams.

Position Overview:

The Software Test Engineer works directly to Software Test Manager to do the test planning and test execution and reporting for multiple ongoing projects. The Software test engineer is responsible to Develop automated tools/scripts from scratch to Test SW/FW.

Responsibilities:

• The Software Test Engineer works closely with key stake holders in the organization such as program managers, product managers, development engineers, and technical program managers to define and implement quality engineering solutions, practices, processes, and standards.

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute test cases and test plans at functional and system levels.

• Understand functional, system, integration and regression testing focus at functional and system level.

• Perform black and gray box testing of released products or products under development to reveal design and implementation defects.

• Use test tools such as debuggers, emulators, and simulators to test and collect logs for reported problems.

• Experience with Test management, defect reporting such as AP Test Manger, TestRail, Jira, and Confluence.

• Identify automation opportunities and develop & maintain automated tests.

• Analyze test results, troubleshoot, and triage issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers & QA engineers to understand features in-depth & write detailed test plans.

• Perform Test execution and provide test reports and metrics on regular basis and communicate test results to Project teams

• Must be self-motivated and self-managed with an eye towards continuous process improvement.

• Proven Track record of executing automated test suites and generating relevant reports

• Ability to translate SW requirements into test cases

• Engage in debugging and verification of customer reported issues

Experience/Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in quality engineering and software/hardware testing.
• Experience in testing IoT devices/Data cards/M2M devices and/or hardware.
• Attention to detail and solid oral and written communications skills a must
• Must understand QA processes and methodologies in a software development environment.
• Experience testing products running on embedded Linux/RTOS
• Experience testing end to end IoT systems or Cloud based solutions for IoT platforms
• Knowledge on routing / networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, NAT, DHCP, DNS, MQTT
• Good understand of network traffic and tools: 802.11, Wireshark, TCPDUMP.
• Debugging data like logs, Wireshark traces and identifying potential problems
• Experience with automated testing tools
• Good Understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Knowledge and experience in Windows, Mac OS, Linux & embedded Linux
• Experience with mobile app testing (Android/iOS)
