Telstra in Bengaluru is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Lead to drive backend design and delivery for Java, Spring Boot, and Amazon Connect. You will align technical designs with architectural standards, security requirements, and business goals while enabling efficient development, testing, deployment and operations through a DevOps model.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, mentor engineers, and coordinate with onshore/offshore stakeholders to ensure scalable, reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong backend software design, development and architecture with Java and Spring preferred.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices at scale.
• Solid experience with AWS cloud services and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

The Solution Lead India Solution Lead is responsible for guiding the technical direction and delivery of solutions within a high performing agile team. This role ensures that technical designs align with architectural standards, security requirements, and business objectives while enabling efficient development, testing, deployment, and operational support through a DevOps model including maintenance and custodianship of assets.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership

• Lead backend solution design and implementation, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and business objectives.
• Drive best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and operational support within a CI/CD and DevOps framework.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developers and quality engineers across the team.
• Ensure solutions are performant, maintainable, and meet business and customer needs.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Operations, Security, Data, Tech Enablement, and Product teams to ensure compliance and integration.
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes to maintain service reliability.
• Maintain documentation for technical designs, processes, and operational procedures.

People & Delivery Management

• Work cross-functionally across multiple delivery teams, coordinating with offshore teams and onshore architects and stakeholders.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.

Contact Centre & Telephony (secondary)

• Provide architectural oversight and stakeholder coordination for Amazon Connect implementations — call flows, routing, and Lambda integrations.
• Collaborate with contact centre operations and product teams to translate business requirements into effective IVR and routing designs.
• Support integration of Amazon Connect with CRM and backend systems, particularly Salesforce.

What We’re Looking For

Core Engineering Skills

• Strong expertise in backend software design, development, and architecture — Java and Spring are strongly preferred.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices at scale.
• Solid experience with AWS cloud services and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Occasional frontend involvement — familiarity with React or Next.js is a plus, not a requirement.
• Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, JMeter) and implementing unit, integration, and e2e tests.
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.

Contact Centre & Telephony Skills

• Exposure to Amazon Connect — call flows, routing profiles, queues, and Lambda integrations.
• Understanding of IVR design principles and telephony concepts (SIP, PSTN, CTI).
• Experience or familiarity with Salesforce integration, particularly in a contact centre context (Service Cloud, CTI).

Leadership & Collaboration

• Proven ability to lead engineering teams.
• Comfortable working in an onshore/offshore model, coordinating across time zones.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management — able to bridge India-based delivery teams with Australian architects and product owners.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence decisions without direct authority.

Preferred

• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect or Developer).
• Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe).
• Experience in telecommunications, utilities, or subscription-based services.
