Job summary

MFA Technologies LLP invites an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team, drive end-to-end project delivery, and uphold high technical and execution standards across projects.

You will balance people leadership with technical guidance, collaborate with Product, Business, and Leadership, and ensure projects are delivered on time and with quality. The role requires fostering ownership, guiding architecture decisions, and advancing CI/CD and testing practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering with leadership experience.
• Strong frontend and backend technical background.
• Experience delivering production-grade software end-to-end.
• Proficient in Agile/Scrum and backlog management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience in startup/product development advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and support the engineering team while building a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Own end-to-end software delivery across planning, development, testing, releases, deployment, and production support.
• Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Work closely with Product and Business teams to maintain a clear, prioritized, and delivery-ready backlog.
• Track sprint progress, timelines, dependencies, risks, resource requirements, and project deliverables.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical and delivery blockers.
• Provide regular project and delivery updates to stakeholders and leadership, ensuring clear visibility on progress, risks, and timelines.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and participate in architecture, system design, and key technical decisions.
• Drive engineering best practices across code quality, testing, security, performance, documentation, and CI/CD.
• Ensure development processes and coding standards are consistently followed across the team.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, mentoring, and career development of engineers.
• Continuously improve engineering processes, sprint estimation, planning accuracy, development practices, and overall team productivity.

This role requires a strong balance of people leadership, technical guidance, project management, and delivery ownership. The ideal candidate should be comfortable leading engineers while also working closely with Product, Business, and Leadership teams to ensure projects are delivered with quality and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated experience leading or managing engineering teams.
• Strong technical background across modern frontend and backend technologies, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and system design.
• Proven experience managing projects and delivering production-grade software end to end.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint management, backlog management, and estimation.
• Experience leading technical discussions, architecture decisions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, deployments, CI/CD, and production support.
• Strong project ownership with the ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, timelines, and risks.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively balance people management, technical leadership, and project delivery.
• Experience working in a startup, product development, or fast-paced technology environment will be an advantage.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who does more than manage tasks and meetings. The Engineering Manager should be able to understand the technology, guide the engineering team, challenge technical decisions when required, manage delivery commitments, and take ownership of outcomes.

The person should be comfortable working closely with XCT's leadership team and providing clear visibility into what is being delivered, what is delayed, why it is delayed, and what actions are being taken to keep projects on track.
