Job summary

Bitpanda is hiring for a backend focused engineer to help evolve Trust Vault, our secure custody platform for institutions and DeFi access. You’ll work on multi‑chain wallets, low‑level blockchain transactions and distributed systems in AWS, delivering scalable features from concept to release.

The role emphasizes TypeScript APIs, event-driven architecture, and collaboration with senior engineers. Hybrid work with onsite Vienna onboarding and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Familiar knowledge of TypeScript and hands-on experience building APIs with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Familiar with relational or NoSQL databases, API design, websockets, and network communication.
• Comfortable working with event-driven architectures, Node.js, AWS services, serverless (Lambdas), and Infrastructure-as-Code (CDK/Terraform).

• Build and launch new features and services for Bitpanda’s Custody platform, used by leading financial institutions.
• Design and implement high-performance, event-driven backend systems on AWS with a modern microservices architecture.

Your mission

Help build and evolve Trust Vault, Bitpanda’s secure crypto custody platform for institutions, banks, and DeFi access. You’ll develop multi‑chain wallets, work on low‑level blockchain transactions, and design distributed systems in AWS. From concept to release, you’ll deliver features that power seamless and secure digital asset interactions.

Responsibilities

Build and launch new features and services for Bitpanda’s Custody platform, used by leading financial institutions. Design and implement high‑performance, event‑driven backend systems on AWS with a modern microservices architecture. Tackle challenges across multi‑chain integrations, secure transactions, and large‑scale distributed systems. Collaborate with a motivated team of senior engineers who value knowledge‑sharing, mentorship, and building things the right way. Contribute to a product that’s not only stable and scalable, but also at the cutting edge of blockchain and DeFi innovation.

Who you are

Familiar knowledge of TypeScript and hands‑on experience building APIs with a focus on clean, maintainable code. Familiar with relational or NoSQL databases, API design, websockets, and network communication. Comfortable working with event‑driven architectures, Node.js, AWS services, serverless (Lambdas), and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (CDK/Terraform). Curious and proactive — you’re excited to learn and take ownership of projects in the fast‑moving DeFi space. Bonus points if you’ve touched on any of these: message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, EventBridge), smart contracts, running crypto nodes/RPCs, Web3, or GraphQL.
