Job summary

Blackbaud India is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Upsilon India/Vaayu team to build and operate Blackbaud’s Internal Developer Platform, enabling hundreds of development teams to deploy and manage thousands of services and cloud resources with reliability at scale.

This hands-on role emphasizes production reliability, Kubernetes operations, observability, and collaboration across time zones, with mentoring of junior engineers, code reviews, and active participation in Agile GitHub

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C#/.NET hands-on development experience.
• Strong Azure experience.
• Strong Kubernetes experience.
• Proven production support and troubleshooting experience, with participation in on-call rotations.
• Working knowledge of Linux fundamentals and networking basics.
• Experience with Agile practices and GitHub usage.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain C#/.NET microservices in a microservice architecture, focusing on reliability and scalability.
• Contribute to services that support Azure resource provisioning/management across the company.
• Participate in production support and on‑call rotation; troubleshoot incidents and ensure high-quality follow-through.
• Use telemetry tools to debug production issues, tune alerts, and improve observability.

About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Upsilon India/Vaayu team, you will build and operate software that powers Blackbaud’s Engineering System Platform — an internal developer platform designed to help engineering teams move from ideation to production faster and operate reliably at scale. You will own the design, implementation, and operation of a robust Internal Developer Platform that allows hundreds of development teams to deploy and manage thousands of services and cloud resources. This is a hands‑on coding role, focusing on production reliability, Kubernetes operations, and observability.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain C#/.NET microservices in a microservice architecture, focusing on reliability, scalability, and operability.
• Contribute to services that support the cloud resource lifecycle (provisioning/management/decommissioning) for Azure resources used across the company.
• Participate in production support and on‑call rotation; troubleshoot incidents using standard engineering workflows and ensure high‑quality follow‑through.
• Use telemetry/monitoring tools (Splunk, Grafana, Azure Monitor) to debug production issues, tune alerts, and improve system observability.
• Troubleshoot and operate workloads on Kubernetes (and AKS where applicable): pods, deployments, services, node‑level symptoms, and operational tooling (kubectl/diagnostics).
• Collaborate in Agile delivery, using GitHub workflows (PRs, code reviews, branching, CI/CD patterns).
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and production troubleshooting practices (communication and coaching expected).

What You’ll Bring

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C# / .NET hands‑on development experience (must).
• Strong Azure experience (must).
• Strong Kubernetes experience (must).
• Proven production support and troubleshooting experience, with participation in on‑call rotations (must). May need to work in rotating shifts in the future based on business requirements.
• Working knowledge of system administration (Linux fundamentals) and networking basics (DNS, TLS, routing, connectivity troubleshooting).
• Experience with Agile practices and GitHub usage (must).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with a globally distributed team, collaborating across time zones.

Nice To Have

• AKS experience (cluster operations, node pools, scaling, upgrades).
• Angular, TypeScript.
• Experience with observability and telemetry tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Azure Monitor.
