Senior Software Engineer [Go/Java Microservices]
The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to patient support capabilities by building and evolving REST microservices in Go and/or Java (Spring Boot), backed by PostgreSQL, deployed to Azure Kubernetes Service via containers, Helm, and CI/CD. The role involves working closely with business analysts and QA, supporting SIT/UAT with vendors where applicable, and maintaining high standards for quality, communication, and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities
- Thrive in a fast-paced delivery environment with clear priorities and changing timelines.
- Read requirements and design inputs, internalize business rules, and implement them in service code, APIs, and configuration.
- Partner with BAs to clarify scope and rules; raise questions early and document decisions, assumptions, and gaps.
- Uphold coding standards and team conventions (reviews, formatting, module boundaries, logging, and audit expectations); implement and maintain automated tests and document test evidence for handoff to QA where required.
- Work with the testing team through UAT; provide timely fixes, clarifications, and retest support through completion of the cycle.
- Support UAT alongside multiple vendors when the program requires it (defect triage, environment checks, data/setup guidance within policy).
- Join calls in EST morning hours with PM, BAs, and stakeholders as scheduled.
- Demonstrate accountability: proactive communication, transparent reporting, and timely escalation of technical and functional risks or blockers.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with engineering, leadership, and client stakeholders.
- Anticipate delays or quality risks; keep customers/stakeholders informed of status, options, and actions taken.
- Honor SLAs and agreed quality/support expectations for owned components and releases.
- Analyze incidents and recurring issues; propose and deliver preventive improvements (tests, monitoring, runbooks, code fixes).
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation (CI checks, deployment hygiene, operational toil reduction) within governance.
- Provide daily/weekly status to team and stakeholders as defined by the engagement.
Requirements
- Strong production experience in at least one of: Go and Java with Spring Boot; ability to own features end-to-end in assigned services.
- REST API development: design, validation, error handling, security-aware defaults, and maintainable layering.
- PostgreSQL: proficient SQL; sound use of transactions, constraints, and performance basics from application code.
- Git and collaborative delivery (merge/pull requests, meaningful reviews, traceable history).
- Azure fundamentals for application teams: AKS, Container Registry, and typical CI/CD identity/secrets patterns.
- CI/CD experience (GitLab CI or equivalent): build, test, artifact/image promotion, environment-based deploys.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; proactive, curious, and process-aware within defined service levels.
- Flexibility to work across Go and Spring Boot codebases as program needs evolve.
- Ability to influence and communicate within the team and cross-functionally (engineering, QA, BAs, PM, vendors).
- Ability to work independently on complex issues and participate confidently in client and onshore calls.
