GROUP FUNCTION AND ROLE PURPOSE
Group Function - The Intelligent Automation department, serves as the Center of Excellence within the Customer Experience & Digital division, driving automation projects at FAB. The department promotes, enables, and facilitates Robotic Process Automation (RPA) by establishing standards for selecting the right processes for automation and building scalable solutions using reusable components. This minimizes the total cost of ownership. The team is also responsible for managing and delivering automation across the entire bank.
Role Purpose: The Intelligent Automation Specialist is responsible for guiding and working with a team of developers and testers to independently implement automation solutions. This role requires the ability to analyse business processes, suggest improvements, and develop RPA solutions. The Specialist should be able to break down processes, estimate the time required for each step, and participate in the preparation of project analysis and solution design documents.
The Specialist is expected to support other team members in completing projects on schedule while adhering to engineering processes such as code reviews, source control, unit testing, use case analysis, and defect management. They should also provide support and guidance to business stakeholders by answering technical questions and resolving issues based on defined and agreed-upon SLAs.
The ideal candidate will support the Tech Lead in creating and refining a tailored framework that provides an optimal platform for the rapid and repeatable delivery of automated processes within the company.
Key Accountabilities:
Core Responsibilities:
- Gather Detailed Requirements from Business Stakeholders
- Engage with business stakeholders across the bank to gather end-to-end process details for identified automation projects.
- Document 'as is' business processes and prepare Business Requirements Document (BRD), Functional Specification Document (FSD), automation architecture, and technical/solution design documents.
- Work closely with functional experts and the RPA team to ensure technical integration and development conform to requirements.
- Identify, assess, and validate potential processes/candidates for RPA using proven methodologies or value assessment frameworks.
- Prepare complexity assessments for all processes.
- Develop detailed project plans for selected processes.
- Work within project planning constraints, communicate identified project risks and issues to the Tech Lead, and provide inputs to the change control process.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with IT, Control Functions (e.g., Op Risk, Compliance), and business to gather necessary inputs during all phases of the project.
- Achieve consensus on recommended automation scope across all stakeholders and resolve challenges, dependencies, gaps, etc.
- Prepare weekly status reviews for management and technical help cards for business stakeholders.
- Conduct requirement walkthroughs for all stakeholders, including the support team.
- Conduct UAT and obtain signoff from the business team.
- Proactively solve problems and possess strong analytical skills to analyze complex requirements and define advanced technical/functional solutions.
- Interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders as part of the RPA delivery cycle.
- Development and Deployment:
- Develop RPA solutions using UiPath and OCR solutions using UiPath Document understanding.
- Adhere to technology-related standards, policies, and procedures such as standardization frameworks and coding standards.
- Ensure the technology framework is followed for all automation opportunities across business units and operations.
- Create and maintain reusable components for all processes.
- Deliver automation projects based on the tools and technologies in the project scope.
- Mentor colleagues through the RPA training and accreditation program, providing advice and guidance on best practices and development techniques.
- Provide architectural control over solution designs to ensure consistency and continuity across the company's delivery teams.
- Identify new process opportunities, accurately analyse, and estimate new processes, and quickly assess feasibility.
- Review the code of other colleagues and create reports.
- Work closely with L2/L3 for handover of developed automation processes.
- Collaborate with IT-PMO for inputs/approvals throughout the automation lifecycle.
- Create and document test procedures and scenarios for pre-UAT phases.
- Support existing processes and implement change requirements as part of a structured change control process.
- Act as the first point of contact for configuration issues within the team.
- Support the Project Manager in managing project timelines, quality, budgets, and stakeholder management.
- Monitor changes post-implementation to ensure planned business benefits are realized.
