Job summary

Walmart seeks a Software Engineer for the Driver Experience group within the Last Mile Delivery initiative to build scalable Android apps for millions of drivers daily.

You will collaborate with product, design, and backend teams, participate in code reviews, and mentor engineers across geographies while embracing Android best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field with 2+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience alternative to degree-based path.
  • Experience delivering native Android apps with large user bases.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and unit testing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Android application features in coordination with senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to implement functionality.
  • Participate in code reviews and improve code quality by following Android best practices.
  • Diagnose and resolve bugs and performance issues in Android applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Android trends and tools.
  • Work with US and IDC teams to deliver a seamless Android experience.

About Team

We are seeking a Software Engineer for a key position on Walmart’s Driver Experience group under the Last Mile Delivery initiative. Driver experience is key to the success of the Last Mile platform that powers Walmart’s Grocery, General Merchandize and Same Day Delivery propositions. We deal with driver Payments, miles driven, externalization of Walmart Core delivery services. Last Mile Delivery is expected to grow multiple times over in the next few years. In this role, you will develop highly scalable mobile apps to cater millions of drivers per day and solve complex software engineering problems by leveraging state‑of‑the‑art technology. You will drive projects of high visibility across the organization while leading the work of other a group of engineers across geographies.

Qualifications
  • Working experience in Native Android App development.
  • Examples: Kotlin, Java, MVP + MVVM, RX programming, Understanding to UT framework.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences.
  • Demonstrated high level design of systems.
  • Have designed, built, and maintained Native mobile apps with large customer base.
  • Have extensive knowledge of open‑source libraries, design patterns. Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Option 1: Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area.
