Job summary

Qualifacts is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and implement scalable systems for a HIPAA-compliant patient portal in the behavioral health sector. You will own features end-to-end, from architecture to deployment, and help set technical direction for the team.

The role requires strong Python/Django experience, distributed systems know-how, and deep SQL skills. You will mentor juniors and contribute to frontend work in React as needed, with opportunities to collaborate on

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production applications with Python/Django or equivalent stack.
• Strong systems thinker with focus on distributed state, failure modes and long-term design tradeoffs.
• Deep SQL skills and data modeling instincts including migrations, query optimization and schema design.
• Distributed systems experience: async workflows, event-driven architecture, message queues.
• AWS proficiency (Lambda, SQS, SNS or similar services).
• Experience with React frontend (class components a plus) and ability to contribute to frontend when needed.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling as part of daily workflow.

Shift: -11:00 AM to 8:00 PM IST

What you'll be doing

• AWS proficiency - Lambda, SQS, SNS, or comparable services
• React experience (class components a plus)
• Able to navigate ambiguous requirements, ask the right questions, and flag tradeoffs clearly
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as a daily driver

• Prior experience in healthcare or other compliance-heavy domains
