Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer II, Full Stack in India to join our Identity Platform team. You will work across the stack with a focus on frontend engineering and modern web experiences, while contributing to scalable backend services and distributed systems.

You will partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver secure, intuitive experiences and own features from design through production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications.
• Strong full-stack development with solid frontend and backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in a modern frontend framework (preferably React) and JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience building backend services and APIs using Python, Go, Java, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and containerization practices including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases and efficient data access logic.
• Ability to take ownership of projects, communicate clearly, and collaborate across teams and time zones.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop data-rich, consumer-grade UIs and APIs showing Abnormal’s knowledge base from multiple sources.
• Build interfaces for customers and internal agents to debug attacks.
• Create a framework for adding new data sources quickly.
• Collaborate with customers to gather feedback and iterate to reduce false positives/negatives.
• Work with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure to deliver reliable experiences at scale.
• Partner with product, design, and other teams to define interfaces and deliver value.
• Write maintainable code, tests, documentation, and runbooks; participate in reviews.

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II, Full Stack to join our Identity Platform team in India. The team owns the identity graph and data capturing relationships between people, groups, tenants and apps and platform capabilities that can be leveraged as Intelligence by detection-engine decisions, customer-facing identity insights, and APIs used across Abnormal’s products.

In this role, you will work across the stack, with a meaningful focus on frontend engineering and modern web experiences. You’ll also contribute to scalable backend services and distributed systems, taking ownership of features from design through production. You’ll partner closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to solve meaningful customer problems and deliver secure, intuitive experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Own and develop data-rich, consumer-grade, user interfaces and APIs showcasing the breadth of Abnormal’s knowledge, compiled from many different sources, about a user’s normal patterns as well as those which might indicate something abnormal is going on.
• Build the user interface that allows customers and internal agents to debug particular attacks
• Build a framework and specification for quickly adding new data sources.
• Obsessively partner with our customers to gather their feedback and quickly iterate to improve our systems - example - help resolve False Positive/False Negative or integration issues.
• Work with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and event-driven or messaging-based architectures to support reliable product experiences at scale.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner engineering teams to define interfaces, make trade-offs, and deliver customer value.
• Write maintainable code, automated tests, documentation, and operational runbooks; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
• Participate in on-call and production support responsibilities, investigate issues, and improve system reliability and observability.
• Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong technical judgment and code quality.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with experience building and operating production web applications.
• Strong full-stack development experience, including meaningful frontend contributions and solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in a modern frontend framework, preferably React, and strong foundations in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience building backend services and APIs using Python, Go, Java, or a comparable language.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and software design.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and familiarity with containerization and deployment practices, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases and writing efficient, maintainable data access logic.
• Ability to take ownership of projects, communicate clearly, collaborate across teams and time zones, and make pragmatic technical decisions.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, Kafka or equivalent messaging technologies.
• Familiarity with React ecosystem tools such as Redux or Next.js.
• Experience with Django, Django REST Framework, or similar backend web frameworks.
• Experience building security, identity, SaaS, analytics, or other data-intensive products.
• Experience improving observability, reliability, performance, or operational tooling in production systems.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development workflows.
